Cancel or Accept GMAT Score (Lower Score, Higher IR)

Question

Hello,

I am curious to know whether I should cancel a recent GMAT score.
On my first attempt I scored a 710 (Q 49, V 39, IR 7, AWA 6) and on my second attempt, after an additional two months of what I thought to be good studying, I scored a 700 (Q 48, V 38, IR 8, AWA N/A). I scored 740-750s on all 6 GMAC CATs, so I am a little disappointed on my testing performance. Obviously, my second attempt is lower in all categories except IR. Is the higher IR worth accepting the lower score?

Even if you cancelled...It does not matter...It depends how and in which colleges/universities you want to use the score. If your aim is top 10 b-school then you should score 730+.

IR 7 and IR 8 are equivalent. So doesn't really matter. At the same time, accepting or cancelling doesn't matter either to the colleges you are applying to. So your take and nothing to really ponder upon.

All the best with your next attempt in case you plan to. I personally believe 710 should be sufficient for any of the colleges you apply to.

Hi, Chase, just seeing this message but whatever you ended up doing is fine - keeping this score won't harm you. On the apps, you'll just usually enter the highest (or both but they'll consider your highest usually). Your first score was better overall and better in Quant, so that's the one you'll enter. IR doesn't count a huge amount, and the 7 and 8 are pretty equivalent. Good luck, hope this helps!
