Hello Experts,
I have few questions about my career path. Here is little bit background about me. My Long term goal is to become an entrepreneur or a C level executive (Not joking
), but for now i don't have any startup idea that i would love to work on. So, I am planning to apply for Business Schools this year to gain knowledge on different functions. Considering my long term goals, i thought Management consulting is the right career path.
My WE: I have been working in U.S on H1 visa for the past 6 years as a Business Intelligence Developer/ Lead (mostly on Reporting and Analytics). GMAT Score of 700. Decent Extra curricular activities.
Here are my questions:
1) I will turn 30 by this August. Is it better to apply for Part time or Full Time?
2) Do i have a chance to switch to Management Consulting? (The reason why i am asking this is I will turn 31 if i consider 1 year program and 32 if i consider 2 year programs by the time i graduate). Do companies consider that age too old for career switchers?
Anyone in same boat? please share your thoughts. Thanks in Advance.

I still think it is fine for you to apply FT from an age perspective, always keep in mind it is easier to career switch from the FT program than the PT program given the opportunity for a summer internship. I tend to think the school you attend has some of the biggest influence on your ability to secure an offer in management consulting. A school like Kellogg offers not only the breadth and diversity of employment options for candidates interested in mgmt consulting. Other schools will also offer similar opportunities but just not in as robust numbers so really pay attention to the employment report at your target school. Generally with most of the management consulting firms they realize that the industry is a short term stop for many, so age is less of a factor, once you get in the interview if you can knock out the case that is the most important factor
