After reading the blog of a life as an Investment Banker I realized that career path just does not fit me. However, I have a strong passion towards finance and world markets. Are there any other respectable fields post MBA?

Investment Banking is not the only field you can enter if finance interests you.

Possible career options include:

1) Corporate Finance career via Financial Development Program within Fortune 100 companies
2) Financial news reporter on TV or newspaper, agencies, and other financial info services such as Bloomberg, Reuters etc
3) Other areas in financial services firms such as risk mgt, fixed income, sales & trading and etc

The Booth Finance club website lists out some more specific fields in finance:

Finance in a Corporation: A typical position in a company is that of a Financial Analyst. Work can be in one of many different departments depending on the industry and company. For a manufacturer, positions exist in strategic planning, product development, and division controller's offices. Work can include financial analysis for feasibility, pricing, cost control, and budgeting to name a few.

Investment Banking: Merger & Acquisitions, Corporate Finance, Sales & Trading, or Debt & Equity Capital Markets.

Commercial Banking: Credit Analysis or General Management.

Investment Management: Equity Analyst or Portfolio Management.

This is the best blog I have read on life as an IB intern. It's an Analyst, and not an Associate, but it should still be helpful. BTW, this guy had a series of REALLY cool internships. First, BB summer in 2008, then he was at the Treasury working on TARP I. Very, very cool.
