Hi All,
I sat GMAT today and got a decent score of 710 (Q49, V37, IR8). I am thinking of applying to six to seven schools of which I have decided five. The following are the five schools: Smith, Carlson, McCombs, Tepper, and W.P Carey. Because the tuition fee and the living expenses in U.S will result in a huge debt, I want to rely on scholarship.
My work profile goes as follows:
Work Experience (WE): 72 months (60 months at present) at the time matriculation
Industry: Energy/Power/Manufacturing (public sector undertaking)
Function: Information Technology
Technical Expertise: SharePoint, Windows Server OS, Microsoft Exchange (mailing solution), Automation, ASP.NET
Projects: Various big projects (in leadership roles) to improve services
Profile: Delivering IT services to our internal customers (around 800)
Interactions with: Internal customers
Certifications: Microsoft Certified IT Professional, Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (appearing soon)
GPA: close to 3.5 (cannot state exact GPA because of percentage system in India)
Percentage in senior secondary and secondary school: 94% and 90% respectively
Considering my profile, schools selected, and my GMAT score, what are the chances of get at least 100% scholarship in any of the colleges? At graduating, I am looking to be placed in a technology company. So which college would be the best?

Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed reading your profile and think you have a strong background for these schools. I reviewed your profile similar to when I worked in admissions.
My answer is YES apply to these schools but really consider adding a few top-tier schools to your list too such as Fuqua, Wharton, HBS, Stanford, Booth, Berkley. Stanford offers the Reliance Dhirubhai Fellowship which is only for Indian candidates and covers the 2 year MBA program. Also, Fuqua and Wharton granted generous scholarship amounts the last few years to international students. As for your academic profile - you have a solid converted GPA and GMAT score of 720. I would not recommend re-taking the GMAT. Given your background, an increased score will not increase your chances any further.
While I understand your concern for having debt post-MBA, try to keep this as independent as possible to the choice of schools you apply to. When you graduate from a top-tier program, your compensation will help alleviate much of that debt. In fact, I request that you try to answer the following: If you were accepted at HBS, Wharton, or Booth without any scholarship…would you attend and try to gather funds? Or if you were accepted at Smith without any scholarship, would you still want to attend and try to gather funds?
Hope this helps you make the right decision for the brand name that will attach to your name in the future. Trust me, I speak from experience. Last year, we successfully placed candidates at the schools above. Some of these admits are now MAC Fellows given their positive experience. They are available to directly share their application experience with you.

Hi Vimal,
Thanks for your response. I am specifically targeting a school that can offer me scholarship. I know my limitations and the competition Indians pose at the global platform for admissions at top B-schools. Therefore, I am not willing to dissolve my energy into applying to the top notch schools. One school that I think fits my current profile, that is possibly within reach and that will help me achieve my post-MBA goals is Tepper.
