Cheese costs C cents for 1 ounce.
So for 16 ounces ( for 1 pound), it costs 16C.
Now 100C = 1 dollar.
Then 16C = X dollar.
Cross multiplying, gives 4C/25.
A is the answer.

Can someone help me understand where Im going wrong and where my understanding is lacking?

if c cents = 100c then
100c = 1 dollar

16 ounces = 1 pound so
1 ounce = 1/16 pounds

Therefore,
100c/1/16 = 100c x 16 = 1600 c?

Hi aanjumz92

C cents/ounce * 16 ounce/ 1 pound * 1 dollar/ 100 cents

This way it ends 16c/100 = 4c/25

I hope this helps out.

(A) \(\frac{4c}{25}\)

(B) \(\frac{25c}{4}\)

(C) \(\frac{25}{4c}\)

(D) \(\frac{c}{1600}\)

(E) \(1,600c\)

Given:
1 cent = 1/100 dollars
1 ounce = 1/16 pounds

\(\frac{c \ \ cents}{1 \ \ ounce} = \frac{c *\frac{1}{100} dollars }{\frac{1}{16} pound} = \frac{4c}{25} dollars/pound\)

Answer (A)
