I would still take the safe approach and not bring it into the testing area.

I would still take the safe approach and not bring it into the testing area.

I agree. there are cameras abound all over the place and I don't want to risk doing ANYTHING to jeopardize my score. But I also concede that someone who is very discrete with chewing gum could get away with it.

Just avoid it altogether . Why do you want to simply take a chance . Even if the proctor doesn't notice anything , the camera is bound to pick it up .

Not being able to chew gum if you take the test online in your own home is completely stupid. Not sure why that is a rule now

Simple question, is it allowed to chew gum while taking the GMAT?
Good question! Officially, chewing gum is not allowed during the GMAT, whether you're taking it at a test center or online. Test centers usually don’t allow food or drink (or gum) in the exam room for security and cleanliness reasons.
If you're taking the GMAT Online, the same rules apply—you’re monitored via webcam, and chewing might be flagged as suspicious behavior.
Best to skip the gum during the test to avoid any issues!
