I don't think I've seen a topic discussing Booth vs. Sloan. Which would you pick? I feel both are known for being quant oriented, and MIT perhaps more entrepreneurship oriented? My interest is in Strategy Consulting and I'm unsure which school would be a better fit. Also, which has the better brand value? And what about cities in terms of living in Chicago vs. Boston?

Both are great schools with entrepreneurial cultures. Within the US, Booth is a stronger brand but internationally MIT is by far more widely recognized. MIT's global recognition is probably second only to Harvard. For strategy consulting, both schools would get you where you want to go. It definitely would come down to fit.

From a building perspective (I like pretty buildings!), both E62 and Harper Center are amazing but I'd give the nod to the Harper Center. :-D

Thanks for the thoughts people! One question I have is, I understand that MIT has the stronger brand internationally, but isn't it more for the undergrad program? Also, the brand tends to come with a "techie" image, right?

Okay guys, I've heard back from my round 2 schools and now it's really decision time. My only two options are Booth or Sloan. Everyone above seems to have said both are on par..so that has made my decision really difficult!

I like the strong international brand of MIT (I may at some point move back to Asia) and that there is a much higher percentage of internationals at MIT than Booth - i.e. a more global student body. However, I also like Booth's analytical focus and I'm getting money from Booth. My concern is that maybe the lack of a core at Booth (plus the commuter aspect) may make it harder to bond with classmates. Also, I'm in finance right now and looking to probably move away from it (to consulting, maybe, but I'm not totally sure) so a student body diverse in its background and goals would help expand my horizons.

I'm totally confused which school I should go for and any additional insight gmat club members can provide will be much appreciated!!

Hi Nisha,

I am in the same boat as you. I too am probably looking to head back to Asia at some stage of my life. I am currently living in Australasia and the MIT brand name is much stronger here. Also I have family and friends in India in senior corporate roles and it seems MIT has much stronger brand name there.
However - I too am still debating between two schools especially as I am interested in consulting too

I currently work for one of the Big4 firms and was in an Oceania wide conference last week. There I met one of the global heads of my department of my firm who had flown in from US. He seemed to know MIT but not Chicago Booth. However do note that this is the opinion of one person only. Its debatable whether Booth has a stronger brand name in the states. I think both MIT & Booth are on par
