I settled on C as the right answer.

Split #1: care their sensitive pets vs care for their sensitive pets
The right idiom is care for their sensitive pets. Care their sensitive pets is unidiomatic and hence incorrect. A can be eliminated based on this.

Split #2: doing so vs it
doing so is a pro - verb that can rightly refer to an action previously mentioned in the sentence. In the context of the sentence, doing so refers to the act of caring for and nurturing pets by their owners. The pronoun it cannot have the aforementioned action as its antecedent. Hence B and D can be eliminated.

Split #3: meaning. will result vs may result
Between C and E, E changes the meaning of the sentence. The original sentence expresses a sense of higher possibility with the use of will result. In E, however, will result is replaced with may result, and by so doing implying a lesser likelihood of the act of nurturing and caring for pets by their owners to result in a calm temperament and healthy physique. E thus changes the meaning of the original sentence. Hence E is inferior to C, which maintains the original meaning of the sentence.

A. Chinchilla owners should care and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as doing so will result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal.

B. Chinchilla owners should care for and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as it will result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal.

Quote:
C. Chinchilla owners should care for and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as doing so will result in the animal having a calm temperament and healthy physique.

D. Chinchilla owners should care for and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage because it will result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal.

E. Chinchilla owners should care for and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as doing so may result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal.

IMO C

For is need to maintain parallelism so A is out.
it does not refer back to its antecedent (pronoun antecedent missing)
B and D out
The statement start with should and E somehow makes it "may" indefinite . Also calm temprament of the animal sounds wierd.
C in my opinion.

A. and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as doing so will result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal. for missing

B. for and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as it will result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal

C. for and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as doing so will result in the animal having a calm temperament and healthy physique

D. for and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage because it will result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal

E. for and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as doing so may result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal

A. and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as doing so will result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal
--> care for is a correct usage.

B. for and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as it will result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal
--> "it" can't refer the whole main clause.

C. for and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as doing so will result in the animal having a calm temperament and healthy physique
--> correct

D. for and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage because it will result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal
--> "it" can't refer the whole main clause.

E. for and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as doing so may result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal
--> the author recommend one to do an action because that action "will" result in a good condition. using "may" does not justify the author's usage of "should".

The answer, IMO, is C.

Answer C.
A. and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as doing so will result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal : Not parallel since care for their secitive pets will be right.

B. for and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as it will result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal :
Quote:
it will result
is wrong since and expects a plural pronoun

C. for and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as doing so will result in the animal having a calm temperament and healthy physique : Looks good with all faults eliminated

D. for and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage because it will result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal error same as in B

E. for and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as doing so may result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal : "May result" is not what the sentence intends to support. It should be will

E is the correct answer.

B and D has the pronoun "it", with no antecedent.

A should be "care for".

in C "animal having" is awkward.

OFFICIAL EXPLANATION

Chinchilla owners should care and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as doing so will result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal.

A. and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as doing so will result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal

This answer choice is grammatically incorrect. The verb care requires another preposition in order to correctly connect to their sensitive pets. You cannot care a pet - you can care for a pet. someone, etc.

Whenever the first verb requires a preposition after it and the second verb does not the preposition must not be omitted:

Incorrect: John cares and loves Jane.
Correct: John cares for and loves Jane.

What helps us identify this question as a Split Construction question and identify the mistake is the following Stop Sign: A split construction: Verb A + and/or + Verb B + object

B. for and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as it will result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal

Although this answer choice corrects the original Preposition error by adding the preposition for, it is still grammatically incorrect. A pronoun (in this case, it) refers to a previously mentioned noun. If we wish to refer to a previously mentioned verb (in this case care for and nurture), we need to use the phrase to do so or doing so.

What helps us identify this question as a pronoun question is the following Stop Sign: Any pronoun in the underlined part or after it.

C. for and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as doing so will result in the animal having a calm temperament and healthy physique

The verb care requires another preposition in order to correctly connect to their sensitive pets. This answer choice solves this error by adding the preposition for.

D. for and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage because it will result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal

Although this answer choice corrects the original Preposition error by adding the preposition for, it is grammatically incorrect.

E. for and nurture their sensitive pets by providing them with a suitable diet and a spacious cage as doing so may result in a calm temperament and healthy physique of the animal[/quote]

Although this answer choice corrects the original Preposition error by adding the preposition for, it changes the meaning of the original sentence by replacing will result (which implies a definite result) with may result (which implies an indefinite result).
