An independent clause separated by comma and FANBOYS, only can follow by another independent clause? any exceptional case? Thanks.
There cannot be a sweeping rule as above. English is not that easy
I went to the market, the market opened in 1982 and publicized in all of media.
here we have "I went to the market" -> Independent clause
the market opened in 1982 -> One Modifier
publicized in all of media. -> Another modifier
So we have structure as IC, modifier 1 and modifier 2.
One thing is certain IC, IC -> is wrong.
I cannot have I went to the market, I bought vegetables -> two IC cannot be joined with a comma.
If I have to join two Independent clause, we need either FANBOYS or semi colon
I hope this clears the doubt. If you have any specific doubt, do ask me.
