Today I received the letter from IESE with the best news for the last three years…
The stories from this thread inspired me and helped me not to give up so I hope my own story will also inspire someone who thinks that he or she is not talented enough to take GMAT with 680+ or get accepted to an elite BS.
My MBA path began more than three years ago at the fall of 2011. I never lived abroad and my main trouble was my Intermediate English. I started to learn English with the tutor and spent 2 months at GMAT preparation cources (offline). Nevertheless, by the end of 2012 I understood that I hadn’t had enough progress and changed a tutor. Despite the fact that I had been preparing for 15 months (general English + GMAT preparation) my first GMAT attempt resulted in awful 490 (Q42 V24). In order to not to give up I read a lot of “come back” stories from GMATclub and they were really helpful. I began to prepare more intensively, setting different preparation goals each week. The next effort was made 9 months later. I wanted to get at least 680 but received just 640 (Q49 V27). Next three months of preparations enabled me to achieve wonderful 710 (Q49 V36). It was OK but I felt that there still was some room for growth.
My story demonstates that all you need is to believe in yourself and be passionate about your dream. I read it’s 150 points max might be improved from your starting score. It isn’t true. There is no any magic to get 700 or even 750 if you start from 490 or less. It depends on your effort only.
Ps The next thriller was TOEFL. I got 99 three times trying to get 100. After my 4th effort I received 100/120 and no more ☺
