Company KW is being sold, and both Company A and Company B were considering the purchase. The price of Company KW is 50% more than Company A has in assets, and this same price is also 100% more than Company B has in assets. If Companies A and B were to merge and combine their assets, the price of Company KW would be approximately what percent of these combined assets?
(A) 66%
(B) 75%
(C) 86%
(D) 116%
(E) 150%
Let us take an amount for one of the three companies.
The price of Company KW is 50% more than Company A has in assets, - Let the company A's assets be 100, so KW's price = 100+50% more = 100+50=150.
and
this same price is also 100% more than Company B has in assets - If price of KW is 150 and it is 100% more than B's assets, B = 150/2=75
Combined assets of A and B = 100+75=175, while price of B = 150.
We are looking for 150 as % of 175 => \(100*\frac{150}{175} =100*\frac{25*6}{25*7}= \frac{600}{7} = 85.7\) ~86%
