Assigning fractions to percentage problems is my favourite thing and it will be yours if you memorize the corresponding fractions to percentages like 25% = 1/4, 50% = 2/4 or 1/2, 75% = 3/4, etc.
Now the question...
To find out - Profits of Y this year > Profits of X this year
A) Just gives you the ratio of last year. NS
B) Gives you the percentage downfall from last year to this year. We do not need absolute dollar number to know if one is greater than the other. As you find out that overall ratio remains so that Profits of X are still smaller than that of Y.
