I want to know if I am making the right decision. I'm hoping that the counselors will be able to recognize patterns that I don't see in my current situations. Here is my current situation:
My situation:
1. I want to pursue my MBA/Masters in Data science (career transition). My ultimate goal is to work for United Nations.
2. I have been with my company for about 5 years. I've stuck with local non-profits for around 1-2 years. In the process of starting my own non-profit.
3. I recently (less than a month) rejected a SIGNIFICANTLY higher paying offer (in my current domain) and an opportunity to do interesting work.
Reason:
(3.a) Fear of loosing all the connections I've made with non-profits (my potential recommendation providers).
(3.b) Fear of retaliation from new boss at new company for my MBA pursuits after short stay at new company.
(3.c) Transition to a new company may present incoherent view to the admissions committee -- dilute my application/my image.
4. Few days ago, junior at work got promoted. I don't see any interesting work at my current company for the next 1-2 years. The longer I stay at this company,
the more it hurts me (mentally and professionally). Emotionally, it has been hard to digest the fact that management doesn't view me "promotion worthy". At the same time I get nominated for awards at company. Looks good on paper and not all of them get awards. I'm still active in my company (take part in extracurricular company activities). If it wasn't for the junior getting promoted, I wouldn't be this confused (and probably wouldn't even have reached out)
Thought 1 : Stick with current company, and give MBA a shot.
Thought 2: Switch companies immediately. Admissions committee won't care about your company transitions as long as you demonstrate what you are passionate about. Also when I switch companies, I will build connections, work with non-profits that align with my cause. Continue to work on my non-profit.
Which thought should I incline towards ? Please help.

I just read your situation and case study.
This happens mostly with the working people that management is not able to identify you as a potential candidate .
So do not get dishearten.
As far as question is of doing MBA, I suggest you should go for MBA.
There are several benefits after MBA. you will be already in management position.
On the other side MBa from good school will put you quite ahead in comparison to your peers.

Hi there, and thanks for writing! That does sound like a frustrating situation. Since you seem pretty intent on applying, it might make sense to stick with the current company and put your energy into applications. HOWEVER, if a new opportunity comes up that you genuinely feel will take you closer to your post-MBA goals (and with other upsides) it would be something to consider. People do sometimes switch jobs before applying - the AdCom just wants to know that you had a solid rationale and that it fits in with your intended career path. What you DON'T want to do is leave out of frustration for an opportunity that's neutral (or even has notable downsides) vs. what you're doing now.
