Dear Sarah,
first of all don't start to panic now!!
The Gmatprep and powerprep scores are best reflecting your current potential on the real gmat! The MGMATs are really useful tools to practice for the real test, but in my opinion at least the quantitative section is bit harder than the real thing. My problem with the MGMAT Cat 1 was, that i wasnt able to finish the quantitative section on time, therefore my quantitative score was below 35. On the gmatprep i constantly got over 49 on the maths part. Therefore you shouldnt panick at all.
I would suggest you to take only 1-2 cats a week, otherwise you risk to overburden yourself. Just relax and think positively about the test. See it as a game that you can only win, because if your unhappy with your score, you can retake it anytime :-D .
I really hope you will get a high score on the GMAT :-D

Thank you all for your advise and encouraging words.
I got 670( M - 48, V -34 ) on GMAT yesterday. This score is not so awesome but for now I am going to live it.

Thanks again.

Great score!

Most people are (and should be) happy to score in their average range leading into the exam.

hi, My GMAT is in three days and I am really confused and disappointed with my current scores.

Power Pre II 6/20/2011 : 680 ( Q - 47, V -37 )

MGMAT CAT 2 6/30/2011 : 640 ( Q - 44, V - 33 )

GMAT Prep I 7/25/2011 : 690 ( Q - 44, V - 35 ) ( took third time...not sure if it truly represent my score )

MGMAT 3 7/22/2011 - 650 ( Q - 44, V - 35 )

MGMAT 7/26/2011 - 600 ( Q - 42, V - 32 )

MGMAT 7/27/2011 - 600 ( Q- 43, V - 31 )

There is a lot of variations among all different test scores. I am confused....which one of these scores will be close to my real GMAT score. I am targeting a score around 680. Please help.

Hi Sarah

Firstly we would say that stay positive and such anxieties are common during exam preparation time. Juggling between work and studies is tough so you need to define a significant time for your GMAT preparation. Sometimes taking few days off work for preparing for the GMAT can help a person tremendously.

If you have time this may not be a bad idea. Take practise GMAT tests to see how you are doing. If you cannot do that don’t worry. What might work instead is to set aside 1-2 hours at night on weekdays and major part of your weekend to study and prepare for GMAT- in this case we will suggest a good 2-3 months preparation. However we recommend you to keep taking practise tests to gauge your performance. It will help you in identifying your weak areas and you can focus on them accordingly.
There are various ways you can use to practise for your GMAT. You might need to change your practise style and try this combination to provide you flexibility and different styles to practise so it doesn’t get monotonous.

It could be combination of-

1-Books- Books like- The Official Guide for GMAT Review, The Official Guide for GMAT Verbal Review, The Official Guide for GMAT Quantitative Review etc could be used.

2-Online Study Guide: Websites like Knewton, Grockit etc provide you with practise questions online.

3-Smart phone applications- Kaplan, Veritas etc offer applications to prepare for GMAT on your smart phones.
