Applications must be submitted by 5 PM EST

Mandatory Questions:

Essay 1: Two short-form questions
  • What is your immediate post-MBA professional goal? (50 words)
  • What are your career goals for the first three to five years after completing your MBA, and how will those build towards your long-term professional goals? (150 words)

Essay 2: Long-form essay
Taking into consideration your background – personal, professional, and/or academic – how do you plan to add meaningful value to the Wharton community? (350 words)

Optional Essay: Please use this space to share any additional information about yourself that cannot be found elsewhere in your application and that you would like to share with the Admissions Committee. This space can also be used to address any extenuating circumstances (e.g., unexplained gaps in work experience, choice of recommenders, inconsistent or questionable academic performance, areas of weakness, etc.) that you would like the Admissions Committee to consider. (500 words)

Tips from the adcom:
Bullet points are okay!
This essay is a good place to address information that you believe warrants any additional context.
Acknowledging any part of your application that you might feel is “weaker” will not disadvantage you in any way.

Required Essay for all Reapplicants: Please use this space to share with the Admissions Committee how you have reflected and grown since your previous application and discuss any relevant updates to your candidacy (e.g., changes in your professional life, additional coursework, and extracurricular/volunteer engagements). (250 words)

Recommendations:
Wharton requires ONE recommendation from an individual who know your performance in a work setting, preferably your current or former supervisors.

Recommendation questions are:
  1. Please provide a brief description of your interaction with the applicant and, if applicable, the applicant’s role in your organization.
  2. How does the performance of the applicant compare to that of other well-qualified individuals in similar roles? Please provide specific examples.
  3. Describe the most important piece of constructive feedback you have given the applicant. Please detail the circumstances and the applicant’s response.
  4. Is there anything else we should know? (Optional)

MIT MBA Essays 2025-26

Deadlines:
R1: 29 September, 2025
R2: 13 January, 2026
R3: 6 April, 2026

Applications should be submitted by 3:00 p.m. EST

ESSAY QUESTIONS:

MIT Sloan seeks students whose personal characteristics demonstrate that they will make the most of the incredible opportunities at MIT, both academic and non-academic. We are on a quest to find those whose presence will enhance the experience of other students. We seek thoughtful leaders with exceptional intellectual abilities and the drive and determination to put their stamp on the world. We welcome people who are independent, authentic, and fearlessly creative — true doers. We want people who can redefine solutions to conventional problems, and strive to preempt unconventional dilemmas with cutting-edge ideas. We demand integrity and respect passion.

Taking the above into consideration, please submit a cover letter seeking a place in the MIT Sloan MBA program. Your letter should conform to a standard business correspondence, include one or more professional examples that illustrate why you meet the desired criteria above, and be addressed to the Admissions Committee (300 words or fewer, excluding address and salutation).

VIDEO 1:
Introduce yourself to your future classmates. Here’s your chance to put a face with a name, let your personality shine through, be conversational, be yourself. We can’t wait to meet you!

Videos should adhere to the following guidelines:
* No more than 1 minute (60 second) in length
* Single take (no editing)
* Speaking directly to the camera
* Do not include background music or subtitles

VIDEO 2:
All MBA applicants will be prompted to respond to a randomly generated, open-ended question. The question is designed to help us get to know you better; to see how you express yourself and to assess fit with the MIT Sloan culture. It does not require prior preparation.

Video Question 2 is part of your required application materials and will appear as a page within the application, once the other parts of your application are completed. Applicants are given 10 seconds to prepare for a 60-second response.

The following are examples of questions that may be asked in the Video Question 2:
  • What achievement are you most proud of and why?
  • Tell us about a time a classmate or colleague wasn’t contributing to a group project. What did you do?

RECOMMENDATIONS:
ONE recommendation is needed, ideally from a manager or supervisor. The recommender should answer the following questions:
How long and in what capacity have you known the applicant?
How does the applicant stand out from others in a similar capacity?
Please give an example of the applicant’s impact on a person, group, or organization.
Please give a representative example of how the applicant interacts with other people.
Please tell us anything else you think we should know about this applicant.
Describe the most important piece of constructive feedback you have given the applicant. Please detail the circumstances and the applicant’s response.

ADDITIONAL REFERENCES:
In addition to one required recommendation, applicants can provide the names of two other recommenders from a professional context. If the adcom feels the need for more inputs on your candidature, they will reach out to these recommenders separately. Similar to your recommender, these additional references should be able to speak to your professional and/or academic background. These two individuals should be different from your recommender.

ORGANIZATIONAL CHART:
To help us better understand your current role and the impact that you have on your team and department, please submit an organizational chart. We should be able to clearly understand the internal structure of your organization, where you sit in your organization, and your line of reporting.

Yale MBA Essays 2025-26

Deadlines:
Round 1: 10 September, 2025
Round 2: 6 January, 2026
Round 3: 14 April, 2026

Career Related Essay questions:
Briefly describe your career interests and how you arrived at them. What have you already done to pursue these interests? What do you need to do going forward?(200 words maximum)

Which industry best aligns with your short-term, post-MBA career interests?
(Drop down Menu)

Which industry best aligns with your long-term, post-MBA career interests?
(Drop down Menu)

Essays
Select from ONE AMONG the following THREE PROMPTS (500 words):

1) Describe the biggest commitment you have ever made. Why is this commitment meaningful to you and what actions have you taken to support it?

2) Describe the community that has been most meaningful to you. What is the most valuable thing you have gained from being a part of this community and what is the most important thing you have contributed to this community?

3) Describe the most significant challenge you have faced. How have you confronted this challenge and how has it shaped you as a person?

Adcom’s tips: In answering the prompt – whichever one it is – you should think about the life experiences that have been most meaningful to you and that you most want to communicate to the committee, and pick the question that will best allow you to express that aspect of yourself. We find that the most compelling essays are the ones that are truly important to you, so make sure that’s your guide in choosing what to write about; don’t try to guess what we’re looking for or what you think we want to hear. Importantly, regardless of which prompt you choose, you’ll want to support your essay with concrete examples.

Optional Essay:
If any aspect of your candidacy needs further explanation, please provide a brief description here. (200 words maximum)
Adcom’s tips: Consider providing additional context if it will allow us to better understand your academic performance, promotions or recognitions, or other information that is not apparent from the rest of your application. If you’ve taken concrete steps to mitigate a weaker element of your application or have an accomplishment that does not fit anywhere else in the application, you might include that here. Note that you should use the specific prompts provided in the Work Experience section to address gaps in work experience or choice of recommender.

After the application submission:
  1. Submit the Video Questions. Applicants are required to record two video questions. These questions are randomized and no two applicants will receive the same questions. You will have 0 seconds to respond to each video question.
  2. Submit the Behavioral Assessment. After you pay the application fee, a link to the behavioral assessment will appear on your status page. The assessment is a series of 130 questions, from which you’re asked to select the statement that best aligns with your own behaviors. The assessment requires no prior preparation and take about 25 minutes to complete. It measures a set of interpersonal and intrapersonal competencies associated with business school success.

Recommendations:
Yale requires two sets of recommendations. Of these atleast one should be from a recommender at your most recent job. If you are an entrepreneur or work for your family’s business, you may get a professional recommendation from a client or mentor. To make the process easier for recommenders, Yale accepts recos written in English, Spanish, and Chinese. following are the reco questions:
  1. Please provide a brief description of your interaction with the applicant and, if applicable, the applicant’s role in your organization. (Recommended word count: 50 words)
