B for me. It is the only choice that has the proper modifiers and does not change the meaning of the sentence.

GMAT's endless love for modifiers defines this one!

(the third modifier 'more than....' dangles in the absence of a verb)

(has a verb. Perfect SV agreement, tense flow is maintained. Let's stick with this)

(The subject is too distant and all the modifiers are all piled up together, which creates chaos. Also 'having been constructed' is incorrect.)

(D) The Altar of Heaven, which was constructed at least as early as the Sui dynasty (A.D. 581-618) and is the oldest known altar used in Chinese state religious practice, more than 1,000 years older than a similar one in Beijing and is

Which one is correct ?
Hello, sonusaini1. In the sample sentences above, I would opt for the first one every time. Because the adjectives are so simple (i.e. short), there is little risk of confusing someone over whether the second modifier adopts the same head, or subject, as the first. But when dealing with lengthier adjective phrases, as in the original sentence above—more than 1,000 years older than a similar one in Beijing and the only altar found so far that predates the Qing dynasty (A.D. 1644-1912)—it is easy to lose track of older and found, respectively, so a repetition of the verb is serves to remind us of the two parallel elements. In other words, you have to tailor your approach to the question at hand, to the sentence you are examining, rather than look to create an absolute rule.

Basic questions often lead to profound moments of understanding. Keep asking questions, even if it seems as though everyone else already knows the answers. (Hint: they do not.)

It’s a good question to understand modifiers as well as parallelism.

Constructed at least as early as the Sui dynasty (A.D. 581-618), the Altar of Heaven is the oldest known altar used in Chinese state religious practice, more than 1,000 years older than a similar one in Beijing, it is the only altar found so far that predates the Qing dynasty (A.D. 1644-1912).

(A) Constructed at least as early as the Sui dynasty (A.D. 581-618), the Altar of Heaven is the oldest known altar used in Chinese state religious practice, more than 1,000 years older than a similar one in Beijing, it is

(Modifier)Constructed ….., the altar of heaven (subject) ….., (modifier) more than …., it
Check the option by removing the modifier (more than ), the altar of heaven it …
Clearly, A is out

(B) Constructed at least as early as the Sui dynasty (A.D. 581-618), the Altar of Heaven, the oldest known altar used in Chinese state religious practice, is more than 1,000 years older than a similar one in Beijing and is
The altar of heaven , (modifier), is ….. and is ….Perfect

(C) The Altar of Heaven, having been constructed at least as early as the Sui dynasty (A.D. 581-618) and the oldest known altar used in Chinese state religious practice, is more than 1,000 years older than a similar one in Beijing and
Having been - error, and the -error. C is out

(D) The Altar of Heaven, which was constructed at least as early as the Sui dynasty (A.D. 581-618) and is the oldest known altar used in Chinese state religious practice, more than 1,000 years older than a similar one in Beijing and is
The altar of heaven , (modifier ), more than …missing verb. D is out

(E) The oldest known altar used in Chinese state religious practice, more than 1,000 years older than a similar one in Beijing, the Altar of Heaven, which was constructed at least as early as the Sui dynasty (A.D. 581-618) and is
(Modifier), (modifier), the altar of heaven(subject) , modifier .
We cannot use two modifiers before introducing subject. E is out .
So, answer is B
