Hi,

I got admission offer from Cornell One Year and Kelley two year program. My post MBA industry is preferably finance but I want to keep my options open and I'm open for consulting as well. Cornell is no doubt a better brand and well known but since this is one year program I will not have internship opportunity. Hence, may be difficult to get a job or change my field. On the other hand Kelley may offer little less opportunity but scholarship is huge financial benefit for me. For finance Cornell probably will still be better. As per US ranks also Cornell's ranking is better. Cornell stands at 15 where as Kelley's ranking is 21. Any input is much appreciated!

What is your background? Are you coming from finance? Are you career switcher?

Yes.. my experience is in Banking analytics and Asset management. I can look for opportunities in finance but I don't mind exploring opportunities in consulting as well if more option is available for international students in consulting.

Actually there are pros and cons. Cornell has bigger brand than Kelley. The 1-year program is also held between Ithaca and NY which gives you close proximity to financial institutions and firms in NY. I doubt a one year program will help transfer into consulting as there is no internship. My friend in Kellogg 1-year faced same issue and got same response. It might be helpful if you coming from management consulting background. Kelley is not finance school but could help for 2nd tier consulting. However, your experience is your support in searching for a job. In your case, I would depend in my experience and choose school that offers more money. I would go with Kelley.
