Hi All,
My goal is to pursue a career in tech (Product Management). I'm having a tough time deciding between these two schools. I applied for the 2YR Full time program in both. They both have a close knit community and an active alumni base which is important to me. Johnson has the tech campus in NYC and CMU has a great reputation in Computer Science. I have a scholarship from Tepper (which I am grateful for) but not enough to ignore Cornell Johnson.
Any ideas?

Congrats on your admits! If you are looking for Tech recruiting, Tepper is a strong choice with Tech focus. Johnson is ranked higher but it it is not as focused on Tech really so you may find more similarly minded people and recruiters therefore at Tepper. Johnson has improved its tech placements and even has a Tech MBA but the FT 2-year program does not place many into Tech.... could it be because everyone goes for the 1-year Tech one? The traditional 2-year MBA is still primarily Finance & Consulting.

I have been seeing good success from Tepper with placing people out west in Bay Area and Seattle into Tech. 50 people last year. Johnson only sent 30 west and about 45 total were sent into Tech. While Tepper sent 57 into Tech with a smaller program size.

Thank you for your feedback. You are correct that a lot of them try for Finance and consulting. That could explain the lower numbers for Tech placement. However, the immersion program for Johnson allows me to get hands-on experience in the first year which might help me in recruiting for internships. Johnson also has a semester in Fintech in NYC which I am interested in pursuing. That and the Ivy reputation make it a hard option for me to ignore.
