Hi everyone!
Starting this discussion to seek opinions and get some advice. I was considering applying to B-schools in Sept 2020, but with the entire coronavirus situation going on I am considering R3 as well.
According to many articles on Poets&Quants and other admission blogs, schools will see a dramatic drop in international applicants, especially the Chinese who are the most severely affected. The article also goes on to say that even for those students who have already secured an admit, the recent US travel restrictions might pose a problem in securing the student visa for some candidates.
As such, will this situation imply better chances for R3, in terms of both acceptance and scholarship? Secondly, will the financial havoc created by the virus imply much higher applications to B-schools in Sept-2020? [Since, many might have potentially lost their jobs + global recession seems to be on the cards]
I'm so confused! Thoughts appreciated.
Absolutely, I have been advising applicants considering R-1 and have everything sorted (GMAT, LORs etc) to submit in R-3 as well, the coronavirus situation wreaked havoc on this past recruiting cycle with admitted students forfeiting their spots in the program because of travel restrictions or inability to submit final test scores etc. Most schools are scrambling trying to bring more applicants for R-3. This is a very favorable environment for last minute applicants.
