I am sorry, I usually don't review profiles but this one jumped out at me. I did not mean to disregard all of your other information and accomplishements. They are great.
However, schools often have so many applications from a well represented pool of Indian applicants that even though the average GMAT Score is 700, the Indian average is likely at 730 or 750 and thus there is a chance your accomplishments will be competitive but not competitive enough to outweigh a meaningfully lower GMAT score.

You can poke around the decision tracker for last year for those programs and see what were the average scores for Indians (perhaps they have gone done) - I have not done it for this year yet, only the year before.

I hope this answers your question. GMAT is kind of like a "gate" that you pass. You need a certian score to pass, but a much higher score won't get you in without the right WE/Resume.

Thx.

Your GMAT is fairly low for your peer group. I have seen people with 730 rejected from that group of schools in previous years and I would suggest 750 as the solid score to go by if you are targeting the Top 15.

My suggestion would be to either retake the GMAT or to look at the lower ranked schools or European programs. Look for schools with average scores that are around 680.

Thanks for the reply.

So is the GMAT score the sole basis for consideration to an MBA program? I mean I have developed a lot of experience and expertise around management too. Those things don't count? I mean I know my score isn't great, but will I be rejected based on my score itself, and my application won't be seen further?

This is so discouraging. I am struggling in the 600s and trying to go for my 4th attempt to get into the 700 club. I was born in India but live in Canada and see my friends from Iran, Nigeria and South america get in to the top 15 B Schools with mid 600 scores. 710 is still above a 90% and now I find out that we cant even get in with that? 730-750 is the avg score? I mean is there even a point in writing the GMAT again and going through this ordeal?

Last month Queens University - Smith, whose avg is 640 told me I need a minimum of 700 to even qualify to submit their application. They dont have application deadlines and their applications are being taken for 2020 Jan admits only. I know a person from Toronto who did her MBA from Queens with a 590. Why does this bias exist? This is so demotivating and unfair. I heard in the news that Harvard is being sued by the Asian students association for bias during their admission process. I hope that this turns into a revolution.

Perhaps an MBA from a top 15 is only for the super elite and the geniuses. May I remind people that a 750 is a 98%? Some of us even struggle to reach the 700 club. You live and work with other candidates from different regions, so why isn't this a merit based system? So frustrating.

ari.banerjee It sucks, I get it. Not sure of the answer but apply EARLY as possible and sometimes it helps to do the GRE instead. This blog explains: https://mbaessaycoaching.com/2016/08/23/indian-mba-applicants-real-talk/

lolpopo1 Rule of thumb, apply where your GMAT is 20 points over the class average. The class average at HEC is 690 so that would be a good pick for you. IESE early action round.

When did you apply before? Indians have to apply to EA and R1 for greatest chances of success. If you apply with a low GMAT in a later round sayonara.

Also, it would be unwise to assume you were dinged because of your profile or the school and not poor execution of the application. seriously, this is almost always the problem but if you wrote them without outside input you are unable to detect said problem.

Hey guys,

Thanks in advance, for taking time to help me out. Much appreciated!

So, last year I had applied to
    NYU Stern
    Duke Fuqua
    Cornell Johnson
And I didn't receive a single interview call. Basically my application was rejected in the screening process itself. I don't want that to happen again. Hence I want to get a realistic review of my profile so I can apply to universities where I stand a chance.

Coming to me,
I'm a 25 year old Male from India with an Engineering background.
I have an internship at a top tech company (50k+ employees), which I joined full time, and have 3 years of work ex right now. So assuming I join a school on 2020, I shall have 4 years of work ex.
I joined as a software developer, have one grade promotion in that, then shifted to project management, and I manage the development of internal infrastructure on which about $50B worth of business runs. I have also led cross functional organisations with 2000+ employees within my company.
GMAT - 710 (last year September)
TOEFL - 115 (last year September)
Undergrad University - 87.6% in BTech in Computer Science Engineering. I had merit scholarship for all four years at my undergrad university.
Social Service - A lot. Global as well as within India. I am currently teaching English to Syrian refugees. I have in the past taught English and Math to children from abusive families living in shelter homes. I have led GSR programs within my company.

If you need any more information, let me know.
Thanks
