Paraphrasing:
* Countries restriction on most immigration invite, by characteristic of the type of person arriving.
* This has impacted immigration’s inflow in country, their proportion of skills, competency, living pattern and prospect of employment.
* Countries intentions are on skills-based immigration, education background, benefits to the host country, and only those who can demonstrate sufficient income to support their family.

1. The primary objective of the passage is to:
A. make the case for a demand-led immigration policy
Wrong: Passage tone is about those countries who are restricting on more immigration invite to stabilize and benefit the host country, not about demand – led immigration policy.

B. describe the move away from a policy of zero immigration
Wrong: Passage, does not describe about policy, it gives information about reason to shift, and motives of immigration invite limitation

C. defend a policy that seeks to crack down on unskilled refugees
Wrong: This is one of the corrective actions taken to narrow down, correct immigration inflow in a country.

D. describe a shift towards selective immigration
Correct: as explained above in the paraphrasing

E. air the views of right-wing bigots
Wrong: out of scope, this cannot be inferred from the passage

2. Which of the following statements serves as a premise to the case made in the passage?
A. Dependents of existing immigrants, political refugees and illegal immigrants have few useful skills.
Correct: relates useful skill to immigrants population drop
Premise: The majority of migrants now comprise dependents of existing immigrants, political refugees and illegal immigrants
Premise support to: The proportion of skills held by these immigrant populations has consequently steadily fallen

B. Zero immigration creates a system that lets in only those who have neither a job nor any useful skills.
Wrong: Zero immigration supports only those immigration,
which has no impact on economy and population of those countries,
so with no jobs and useful skill cannot be inferred to “Zero immigration”

C. The described change in immigration policy is right wing.
Wrong: Passage tone does not relate to any policy, Irrelevant

D. There is a sensible move towards a demand-led immigration policy.
Wrong: Passage tone does not relate to any policy, Irrelevant

E. The dependents of existing immigrants and refugees
have the same potential as anyone else in their host country.
Wrong: comparison has to be done with useful skills
which can beneits the host country, not with the potential.

3. The writer of the passage is describing:
A. the findings of experimental research
Wrong: Passage tone is description not with research

B. efforts to classify or define a subject
Wrong: efforts to classify, not inline intended meaning

C. the consequences of cause and effect
Wrong: there is no cause-and-effect related information in the passage.

D. attempts to solve a perceived problem
Correct: as mentioned in the passage,
“In response to these perceived problems, countries are starting to reintroduce skills-based immigration to encourage educated and skilful foreigners to emigrate and thereby bring benefits to the host country.” Passage first
highlights problem with immigration,
identify concerns with host country,
limitation of host country,
requirement of host country from immigration, and last by
structural approach from immigration to benefit the host country – Key word here is
“perceived”

E. attempts to solve a problem
Wrong:
Does not describe which kind of problem

What does it mean "solving a problem" in Q3?
Because passage it doesn't really bring any solution, it merely states what is happening and why it is happening
