Hi

A couple of points to start the discussion. Hope others will contribute as well.

- Within campus, the environment should be fairly safe for individuals as well as families.
- Off-campus, it depends on where you go. Try and get a sense of the city/town from local students, the student services office, or alumni first before you venture out into little-known or unfamiliar areas. Most schools/universities will offer rides or some sort of conveyance to downtown or the city center, and use it if you can.

I totally agree with above comments about crimes. It depends on where you live and the surrounding of the campus in some. The following article can give you insights.
