Hi gmatclub crew, I was hoping I could get some help in the decision making process on how to best set up and prepare for a retake.
Long story short I was scoring consistently in the fairly low 700s in my mocks with an average split of about Q44/V45. I went to the wrong test center but made it to the correct one in time and certainly felt calm by the time quant rolled around - simply mentioning this as a possible reason for the following though I'm unconvinced it was a factor. That said, I scored a measly (relative to my expectations) 650 with a Q39/V41 split.
Basically, I have felt I was on the cusp of "getting it" with the quant for the last month but it just hasn't happened despite plenty of practice and review (I'm not a brilliant individual but certainly capable). While I can attribute a few points here and there to jitters, the performance was still shocking and I plan (and instantly planned) to retake. I had seriously studied for 2 months prior.
My question to the forum is,
knowing it's a case by case basis and that this is all personal opinion, will 3 weeks likely be enough time to jump a handful of points in quant and should I just lay on the practice work or might that dip down to Q39 indicate maybe I don't know the basics like I thought I did and should consider upping my study materials/tutoring (currently OG, GMAT Pill (more of a benefit for verbal), Official Quant Review,
MGMAT number properties and geometry)? Or how do you think I should approach this?
I really appreciate the advice and please recall I'm fully aware there isn't a "right answer" for this, I would just really appreciate y'alls (you all's, from Texas sorry) opinions and empirical evidence for similar situations.
Thanks,
Cameron
