Hi axelpuri!

I would take second free one because as soon as you're done with both free ones, you can start practicing on official quesions from these two free gmatprep tests:

Thank you

I have given the 1st free one and the 2nd one is pending ..

So you feel the free one will not be a fair assessment of where i stand at the moment VS Gmat prep EP1 ?

As you mentioned, you have not taken the 2nd free one, I believe you should go ahead with that. That would give you a fair assessment of your performance.

Good Luck :)

Wanted some advice -

I have one of the default exams ( the 2 free ones that you get when you register with Mba.com , i think? ) still left on the software along with exam pack 1.

Should i be giving the default one to check where I stand currently vis-a-vie my prep OR straight jump into the exam pack?

Request your valuable inputs . :-)

Thanks
I think that the free tests are (slightly) better than those in the exam packs. Go ahead and take practice test 2.

Hi axelpuri,

The Official GMAC CATs can be a valuable part of your overall Study Plan, but you haven't offered much information about the work you've done so far. As such, before you take another CAT (and before I can offer you any advice), it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for each)?

Goals:
4) What is your goal score?
5) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
7) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hello Rich

Thank you so much for your reply seeking information regarding other crucial aspects which will enable you to give me some tailor made advice in connection with the GMAT and my MBA journey.

I sincerely appreciate it

Please find below my replies in color

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
3 months so far
2) What study materials have you used so far?
Official guide '16, Manhattan guides , resources from some local Gmat service providers in India (Jamboree , Pythaguru )
3) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for each)?
I have just given one test ( the free default one last year) and I got a 560. I have been giving Manhattan/ Veritas tests intermittently and have been scoring in the range of 590-650 ( not good i know !!) I gave the EP1 test 1 yesterday and did not get a score since i thought I could see my Quant and verbal score by ending exam but it seems like IR and AWA are compulsory to attend to get a score even on the GMAT prep! Huge bummer but i guess i have to take it on the chin and move on

Goals:
4) What is your goal score?
720+
5) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
16th of October - Im really not feeling that confident right now , yesterday during the gmat prep mock i was struggling with speed and also paused the exam a couple of times due to anxiety. Im not sure this is something i can rectify in two weeks before the real exam
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
I will submit applications for R2 for Fall '18 intake
7) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
SMU , NUS , NTU , IESE, HEC , KELLOG, HKU, KELLOG

Ok .

I had a separate query regarding EP1

Yesterday I did not receive a score for Ep1 test 1 since i ended examination in the hope of wanting to see my quant and verbal score without attempting AWA and IR . :?

Now i will have to give it again after I have completed test 2 and press reset .

Will the software -

a) throw completely new questions at me with some repeats
b) throw completely new questions with no repeats
OR c) throw the exact same test again?

Please can you shed some light on the above?

Thanks :-)

Unfortunately, you did the Big mistake of pressing reset.

Now, you will get some questions repeated for sure. Not all would be repeated but yes you cannot say how many would be repeated.

This won't give you the true indication of your performance.

I would prefer go ahead and give Free Prep 2 that you have still saved.

In case you donot have any, go ahead and give Manhattan Mock.

All the best :)

Hi axelpuri,

Without having a CAT Score from a CAT (taken in a realistic fashion that 'matches up' with what you'll face on Test Day), we really have no idea how ready you are to face the Official GMAT. Based on everything that you have described, you would likely find it beneficial to push back your Test Date. While there is certainly no harm in taking the Exam as scheduled on October 16th, it's unclear whether you'll hit your score goal or not (and it's likely that you would end up having to pay to retake the GMAT later on). You still have plenty of time to continue studying, but we'll really need that new CAT Score before we can discuss what you will need to focus on going forward (and how much additional study time you will likely need to hit your score goal).

Hi Akash777,

You are wondering whether the questions you saw in the GMAT exam pack will also be in practice exams 3 through 6?

No. I do not believe you’ll see repeated questions from the OG on those exams.

ScottTargetTestPrep is correct. You should not see any overlap in the "current' official sources.

Keep in mind that tests 3 and 4 share the same question pool, so if you press reset, there is a good chance that you will see some repeats. Tests 5 and 6 also share the same pool of questions.
