Solution: Let No of Correct Answer=D and Incorrect=I, D + I =20
Determine D>=12?

Statement 1: Dan answered fewer than 40 percent of the questions incorrectly
I < 20 * 40/100
I < 8. Thus D > 12 -- Sufficient

Statement 2: Dan answered at least 25 percent of the questions incorrectly
I >= 20 * 25/100
I >= 5
I can be 5, D=15
I can be 15, D=5 -- Insufficient

Answer A

we need to find Correct Answers (C.A) >=12 or not.

S(1) Incorrect Answers are less than 40% of total answers. Hence incorrect answers are automatically less than 8 and correct answers are more than 12.
40% off 20 =8. Hence Suff.

S(2): Atleast 25% incorrect can mean only 25% incorrect is 4 Incorrect and 16 Correct answers or 100% incorrect. Hence Not Suff.

Answer A.

Kudos for a correct solution.

1. less than 40% incorrect so more than 60% correct answers - This is sufficient to say that Dan answered more than 12 questions correctly - Sufficient
2. Atleast 25% incorrectly - It could be 100% incorrect or 25% incorrect - Not sufficient to get the required answer

Ans A
