Good Afternoon All! I am going to be visiting Darden in the coming weeks, and was interested in any tips... How to dress? I assume business casual. What is expected when sitting in on a class (obviously, not participation-wise)? I have read many threads on visits in general, and wanted to ask about Darden specifically.

Hey there,
If you haven't been to Charlottesville before you'll love it. It's a really beautiful campus. Great questions about the visit. For dress, go business formal. At least have a jacket if you find a tie too constricting. As for participation, Darden is actually a little unique in that some professors are known to call on visiting applicants. They're a case method school so the professor is one of the people in the class who speaks the least. That doesn't mean pick a class you know something about, but don't be caught off guard either! Also, if you don't know the answer, that's ok! Say you don't know

Other than that, there isn't much else specific to Darden I can think of to point out. There are a host of other threads on this forum on school visits so I won't rehash a bunch of content. But if you have any other specific questions, don't hesitate to ask!

I have read many responses where class participation is a no-go for the most part, and I totally understand why. But with the case method at Darden, I figured that may not necessarily hold true. I'm sure I will get a feel for the protocol within the first few minutes of being in the class, but wanted to have some insight on what to expect going in (this will be my first school visit).
