Official Explanation

A. The obesity statistics in Lebanon are quite close between men and women (36.3% of men are obese and 38.3% of women are), and the statistics in the United States are much more disparate (27.7% men, 34% women). If this first statement were true – that men and women in Lebanon were more likely to share exercise habits than were men and women in the US – this would be consistent with the data. Accordingly, this statement would help to explain the data.

A. Would explain

B. In Ireland, 20.1% of the men are obese but less than 18% of women are obese. Note that Irish women do not show up on the chart, so less than 18% (the smallest data point for women) of women in Ireland must be obese. So this second statement – that Irish women are more careful with their diet than are Irish men – is consistent with the data and therefore would help to explain the statistics.

B. Would explain

C. German women (23.3% obese) are more likely than German men (22.5%) to be obese, so this statement is not consistent with the data, as it would suggest the opposite, that German women would be more fit. Accordingly, this statement does not explain the data.

D. Women in Wales (18% obese) are more likely than men in Wales (17%) to be obese, so this statement actually suggests the opposite conclusion and therefore does not help to explain the data.

Obesity Percentage in Lebanon among:
Men = 36.3%
Women = 38.3%

Obesity Percentage in United States among:

As we can see that the difference between obesity % of men and women in Lebanon is just 2%, and that in United states is is 6.3%. We can somewhat say that the statement stands true.

Women in Ireland are more careful with their diet than are their male counterparts......Would Help Explain
20.1% of Men in Ireland are obese, where as no women are obese in Ireland. We can conclude to some extent (if not definitely) that the reason for this is better diet intake among women than it is in men in Ireland.

Men in Germany take less of an interest in fitness than do women in Germany.....Would Not Help Explain.

Since the obesity% among women is greater than that among men. This statement stands False.

As per the above data points, We cannot conclude that the reason for this is more devotion towards fitness among women than do men. If at all it may be vice versa.

So my understanding is that occasionally certain data points don't actually show up but we have to 'think outside the box' so to speak?

Women in Ireland are more careful with their diet than are their male counterparts... < Such women don't show up in the top 30.
