Hello, super strong profile but would appreciate knowing more about your story (UG College, Companies, extra-curricular, etc.). Till I wait that, here is a quick evaluation from our side:

Profile strength: Strong 5 years in consulting/strategic communications, consistent promotions, and robust project management experience. Academics are solid (GPA 3.64) and GRE 327 is competitive for most top programs.

Strengths:

Clear career trajectory in consulting, with increasing responsibility and impact.

Post-MBA goal aligned with pre-MBA experience — makes a credible story.

US work experience is relevant for Wharton, Columbia, and Darden; also appealing for LBS due to global exposure.

Key focus areas:

Essays should highlight leadership, measurable impact, and strategy orientation.

Given your GRE score, you are already competitive, but strong storytelling and application framing will be decisive.

For LBS, make sure to emphasize global mindset and cross-border impact.

Verdict:
This is a credible profile for Wharton, Columbia, and Darden, and competitive for LBS with a strong application narrative. You might also consider applying to Kellogg or Tuck as additional options, given your consulting trajectory.

Hi
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, your profile looks competitive and well-rounded for ISB. While your academics look slightly on the lower side, ISB typically looks at the full picture, and your 5 years of solid, hands-on industry experience helps balance that. Your role as a Project Lead owning projects end-to-end from prototyping to production and acting as a single point of contact is a strong differentiator, especially with ₹30–40 Cr annual project impact and direct exposure to senior leadership.

The short career break is not a red flag if you clearly explain the reason and show continuity in learning or planning. To strengthen your chances, you’ll need to clearly connect your technical leadership and EV exposure to a consulting narrative, show moments of decision-making and influence, and ideally support the profile with a strong GMAT/GRE score.

I’d be happy to offer you a free profile review for your target programs to see where you stand and how to boost your chances, happy to help!
No pressure, no strings - just helpful insights on where you stand and how you can strengthen your chances.

Thank you for presenting a neat background and a very clear career orientation. High GPA, Highest Honors and leadership activities all help to make your profile more convincing. Personally, I sometimes find inspiration by playing some mini-games on Unblocked Gamesto recharge my energy before writing my profile, so I understand the need for clarity like the way you present it here. You can add examples of clean energy projects to add depth to your long term goals.

Profile Summary

Academically, I have consistent but not elite scores (82% in 10th, 80.6% in 12th, ~6.9 CGPA in undergrad), which you offset through strong real-world impact, leadership, and clarity of purpose rather than pure academic signalling.

Professionally, I bring breadth + depth:

Early IT exposure at Cognizant

A strategy-heavy role at a Dubai-based hospitality startup, where you worked on operations strategy, process automation, and efficiency improvements

Implementation / Functional Consulting experience at ADP, including initiating a strategic compliance-linked integration idea with Razorpay

This gives me a rare blend of tech understanding, business strategy exposure, and client-facing execution, positioning you well for consulting and product management roles.

My most distinctive differentiator is my social impact leadership:

I am a volunteer for the India Federation of Hemophilia

I co-created a workshop and assessment framework now used in 55+ countries and 180+ healthcare centers
This is global-scale impact, not résumé filler, and places me in a different league from typical applicants.

On the leadership and personality front:

Former President of my college music club

Primary goals: Management Consulting then move into advisory position

Thanks for sharing your profile, @Ar_Pa. You have a good professional story that can resonate at elite schools, but your current test score + school selection risk profile needs adjustment.

Strengths that can work in your favor:
1. Unusual and credible career mix- IB (BNP, UBS) > Consulting > Real estate investment. This is not a generic finance profile.

2. Deal leadership, not just execution- USD 390M refinancing, backdoor listing, and cross-border expansion (Singapore, Hong Kong). This is true leadership exposure, especially valuable at senior levels.

3. Clear return-to-company goal- Top schools like candidates who: Know exactly why they need the MBA, have post-MBA pathways already de-risked, and whose goal is coherent and mature.

4. Strong social impact thread- CSR leadership at BNP, volunteer camps, and sustainable income project for developmental children. This humanizes a finance-heavy profile.

3. Where your profile is vulnerable (important)- GMAT is the biggest constraint. For your target schools, 665 is meaningfully below range, especially for finance-heavy profiles.

This does not invalidate your candidacy, but it dramatically lowers odds unless offset by an exceptional differentiator (example, unicorn founder, Olympic athlete, public-sector leader).

You can also explore other schools that value real assets, global investing, and real estate leadership, such as Columbia, Booth, INSEAD, LBS, and UCLA.

GPA context: Does it hurt? A 3.32 GPA is fine, especially given: Finance-heavy roles, strong GMAT (relative), and international background. No need to over-explain unless there’s a clear reason.

Your essays should emphasize: Operator–Investor hybrid identity, building institutional-grade systems in traditionally fragmented real estate, long-term leadership in Southeast Asia real assets, why now is the inflection point, and avoid generic “career acceleration” language.

Questions to sharpen your application:
1) Are you formally sponsored or informally supported by your firm?
2) How much technology/data exposure do you already have?
3) Would you consider Europe as a primary option?

We’d love to learn more about your academic background, extracurricular activities, work experience, and personal journey so that we can provide a tailored profile evaluation and an honest school assessment. Feel free to book an evaluation session.

Cheers!

Hey @FD97 , I hope you are doing well.

Your profile looks good and well-positioned for top MBA programs, particularly for finance-focused schools like Wharton, Booth, or LBS. Your GPA and 720 GMAT score is competitive, and your Chartered Accountant qualification further demonstrates strong analytical and quantitative skills.

Your professional background in investment banking, with multiple closed deals and an accelerated promotion at a Big 4 firm, highlights your impact and leadership potential. Winning a firm award highlights your exceptional contributions. Additionally, your prior experience at your family’s financial services firm provides unique entrepreneurial insights, which could be a differentiator.

However, your volunteering experience is great but is relatively limited. Strengthening this area by taking on more impactful roles or aligning it with your long-term goals could enhance your profile. For instance, focusing on financial literacy programs for underserved communities would resonate with your finance expertise.

For your application, articulate clear short- and long-term goals, focus on how an MBA will bridge your current expertise and aspirations to transition into investment banking. Leverage your family business background in interviews to showcase your entrepreneurial spirit and plans to innovate in investment banking post-MBA.
What's going to matter most in your application is how you connect the experiential dots and build a great story to stand out from other applicants in the pool.
If you’d like, we are happy to discuss your profile in depth and assess your chances to top B-schools and strengthen your application with impactful stories.

Hi FD97
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, I can see a strong foundation in IB, backed by your CA qualification and about 6 years of solid work experience. During your years at a Big 4 accounting firm, I can see that you have achieved an accelerated promotion, closed multiple deals, and earned a performance award, this clearly demonstrates your expertise and leadership abilities. While your previous experience at your family’s boutique financial services firm also highlights entrepreneurial exposure and a deep understanding of business growth.

Your short-term goal of transitioning to a bulge bracket investment bank in the US or UK is slightly ambitious but on the other hand it also aligns perfectly with your proven track record. Meanwhile, your long-term vision of building an investment banking vertical at your family business speaks to your entrepreneurial drive and ability to think strategically. Additionally, your volunteering experience adds a meaningful layer of personal depth and demonstrates your commitment to giving it back to the society.

I think that what will set you apart from the pool of applicants is your combination of technical expertise, entrepreneurial mindset, and leadership potential. Booth and Columbia will value your analytical rigor and career focus, while Tuck’s emphasis on collaboration and LBS’s global perspective are a natural fit for your ambitions. Work on highlighting these unique strengths and craft a standout application.

A quick glance at the school profiles and you will understand that 720 is below median score for most of the schools that you have shortlisted specially coming from the Indian pool. Most adcoms would expect you to have an above media GMAT score given your demographics. Mind you quite a few banks also at times can ask for your GMAT score as a means to assess your quantitative skills.
You can either retake the GMAT and aim for a slightly higher score to enhance you profile or maybe look at different set of schools which feed into New York / London Banking industry. Big 4 is experience overrepresented across all major classes so wont be a major differentiator, try to to focus on other aspects of your application to enhance your profile.

All the best!

Post-MBA goals are realistic, well-sequenced, and closely aligned with prior experience. The short-term objective of joining a bulge-bracket investment bank in the US or UK is a logical next step to gain global exposure, advanced deal experience, https://poorbunnygame.com and best-in-class training. The long-term vision—to build and scale an investment banking vertical within the family’s financial services firm—shows entrepreneurial ambition, continuity, and a clear plan to apply acquired skills in a meaningful, long-term way.

Strong profile overall, especially with Big 4 IB experience, closed deals, and an accelerated promotion. Your post-MBA goals also align well with your background.

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a realistic evaluation of my chances for ISB Round 3. I currently hold an admit from Rotman (University of Toronto) with a deposit deadline approaching, but I am strongly reconsidering ISB due to financial risks and ROI concerns.
Demographics
* Age/Gender: 34, Male
* Education: B.Tech in Computer Science, IET Lucknow (Graduated 2014)
Standardized Tests
* GMAT: Taken August 2021 (Valid) – [680 Score]
Work Experience (~9 Years, Government of India)
My experience is split between the Income Tax Department and the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India.
* Office Superintendent, Income Tax Department (Jan 2025 – Present)
* Role: Promoted to lead tax refund processing and rectification of demands.
* Impact: Analyzed data for 25,000+ assessees, including major MNCs, ensuring accurate tax compliance and fraud detection.
* Tax Assistant, Income Tax Department (Nov 2020 – Dec 2024)
* Leadership: Led a 10-member team to reopen 12,000 cases in 1 month following a Supreme Court amendment; coordinated with senior officers to ensure nationwide compliance within a strict deadline.
* Core Work: Assessment of individual and corporate income tax, grievance resolution, and penalty levying.
* Divisional Accountant, CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General) (April 2017 – Aug 2020)
* Financial Management: Managed a ₹10 Crore annual budget for the Water Resources Division; sole central govt employee responsible for auditing 4 sub-divisions.
* Election Duty: Appointed Assistant Expenditure Observer for the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections; led a team of 25 to monitor election spending across the Morena District.
* Gap (2014–2017): Prepared for UPSC Civil Services.
MBA Goals
* Short Term: Strategy Consulting (MBB/Tier 2).
* Long Term: Leveraging government/policy background for public sector consulting or leadership roles in impact-driven organizations.
The Dilemma: Why I am reconsidering Rotman for ISB
While Rotman is a top school, the financial equation has made me wary of accepting the offer. My reasons for pivoting to ISB are:
* Financial Burden: The total cost of attendance for a 2-year program in Toronto is significantly higher. Taking a massive loan in foreign currency at current interest rates feels like a financial trap.
* ROI & Opportunity Cost: ISB’s 1-year format allows me to return to the workforce faster with a much smaller loan burden. At 34, minimizing time out of the workforce is crucial for my long-term ROI.
Specific Questions for the Community
* Round 3 Feasibility: Does a 34-year-old with ~9 years of diverse Government experience (Tax & Audit) stand a realistic chance in ISB Round 3, or is the class typically filled by R1/R2?
* Consulting Recruitment: How does ISB view candidates from the Income Tax Department? Is this considered "unique diversity" that helps in consulting recruitment?
* Age Factor: Will my age (34) be a significant hurdle for consulting roles in India compared to Canada?
Any advice is appreciated!

Hello everyone! Thank you for the review. Below is a quick outline of some of my experiences and qualifications.

UG: Small non prestigious school in New England. 3.92 GPA - 2023 Grad - Business Administration

Current organization: Rural healthcare facility with roughly 700 employees and $300M in annual revenue.

Work: Project manager - Strategy and Business Development (October 2023 - Present)
Appointed by the CEO, I helped lead org's enterprise integration with large world-renowned health system, owning administrative and operational integration planning while co-leading clinical integration efforts. I coordinated cross-functional leaders across IT, finance, supply chain, and clinical services to align decision-making, workflows, and systems impacting over 700 employees. Prior to this, I’ve delivered $1M in annual supply chain and pharmacy savings, generated $8.6M in incremental revenue through pricing optimization, and reduced vendor contract costs by $280K annually. I also led a 30-day operational turnaround of a high-volume consumer services operation under a compressed timeline.

Financial Analyst (April 2023 - October 2023)
As a Financial Analyst, I developed advanced Excel-based dashboards to improve financial visibility and identify $21M in under-collected revenue. I partnered with operational leaders to resolve workflow inefficiencies, improving the clean claim rate by 8% and reducing third-party denials. I also developed financial models and supported external audits, strengthening leadership decision-making and positioning me for rapid advancement into a broader strategy role.

EC: Founded Astronomy club (college)
BJJ/Martial arts instructor (Assistant coach/fundamentals coach October 2024 - Current)

LOR: CEO of current organization. Have known for 3+ years and who I report to directly. Supportive of my MBA plan.
Others if needed (worked closely with for 3+ years) - COO, CMO, and CFO.

MBA Dream Targets: In order of preference, MIT, Tuck, Kellog, HBS, Stanford. (HBS and GSB unlikely, but will apply since there is nothing to lose)

Test: Targeting and zeroing in on a 675-685 focus

Reason for MBA: I want to move from rural hospital/healthcare operations, integrations to system level strategy, corporate development and or health tech.

Hey, your work experience sounds very differentiated. The good thing is b-schools like applicants who have experience working in organizations that do social good, and I believe you would have ample of stories where you can show impact. Overall, it sounds like you will have a very strong resume- you should make it crisp and impressive by showing the $$impact of your work.

One suggestion for you is that as your work is on the finance and operations side, it would really elevate your profile if you got involved with some volunteering/ grassroot level activities where you have a direct interface with the patients/ other beneficiaries of your org's services. As your post MBA goals are also in healthcare, this will round out your profile very nicely. Also, it seems like you don't have many ECAs post graduation, so any volunteering work for the next 9 months will fill that void.

For b-schools- you may also consider Duke and Haas for their healthcare focus. Wharton has a very well know healthcare concentration - if you are interested, reach out to the program manager, as they vet applicants separate from the MBA programs (or rather, in addition to the MBA program).

I would love to have a profile discussion and understand more about you. feel free to set up a call by filling this form: https://mbadecoder.com/services/free-pr ... valuation/

I have a strong academic foundation and a proven record in national-level competitive examinations in Petroleum engineering. I secured AIR 1 in GATE 2022 and completed my studies from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad with a CGPA of 9. Professionally, I have four years of experience at ONGC. Building on this technical experience, I appeared in the GMAT and aiming to transition into a management consultancy role in strategic decision-making.

VagyasreeChanda, with your excellent academic record, you can quite easily crack a better score in GMAT. Hope you are planning to retake, and do aim for a 675+ score. Sometimes even consulting companies ask for GMAT score, so it will help to have a higher one.
