I have a strong academic foundation and a proven record in national-level competitive examinations in Petroleum engineering. I secured AIR 1 in GATE 2022 and completed my studies from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad with a CGPA of 9. Professionally, I have four years of experience at ONGC. Building on this technical experience, I appeared in the GMAT and aiming to transition into a management consultancy role in strategic decision-making.

VagyasreeChanda, with your excellent academic record, you can quite easily crack a better score in GMAT. Hope you are planning to retake, and do aim for a 675+ score. Sometimes even consulting companies ask for GMAT score, so it will help to have a higher one.
Your academics are other wise top notch. Would be happy to learn more about the ONGC work experience. Feel free to set up a profile discussion call with me by filling this form: https://mbadecoder.com/services/free-pr ... valuation/

I usually give a lot of tips, which will be of help to you.

Your work experience sounds interesting. The school marks wont matter in the MBA applications, but undergrad grades will. Is it 8 out of 10 for undergrad, which is a good score. Which institute did you go to and what did you study for undergrad?
it will help to understand your post MBA career goal and your interest in e-commerce, especially given what you have done so far.

Thanks for sharing your profile, @tejastomar7878. You seem to have good raw material (IIT + academics + GMAT), but leadership depth, differentiation, and goal clarity will determine outcomes, not credentials alone.

Talking about the schools:
Michigan Ross loves action-based leadership and consulting outcomes. Younger candidates get in if leadership is clear.

MIT Sloan: Tech + analytics fit is good. Wants impact, not just strong engineers.

Berkeley Haas values innovation, self-awareness, and leadership. Tech background fits well.

Booth is very competitive for Indian male engineers.

Kellogg is consulting-friendly and team-oriented. Needs strong leadership & people stories.

For INSEAD, international exposure + leadership matters.

Key gaps you must address before applying:
1: Leadership (most important)- Right now, your profile reads as: “High-performing engineer with strong academics”. Top MBAs want: “Future leader who happens to be technical”. What you need (over the next few months): Ownership of projects, not just tasks, leading juniors, interns, or cross-functional teams, and influencing decisions beyond code (product, roadmap, clients).

2: Consulting narrative- “Tech → consulting” is common. You must answer: Why consulting instead of senior tech roles? What type of consulting (strategy, digital, ops)? Why now, and why is an MBA required?

3: Experience depth- You’ll be on the younger end at matriculation. You need to demonstrate maturity beyond years, not just competence.

Questions to refine your positioning:
1) Have you led any end-to-end initiatives yet?
2) Any client exposure or business-facing work?
3) Which consulting firms are you targeting (MBB / Tier-2)?
4) Are you open to Europe vs US long-term?

We’d love to learn more about your academic background, extracurricular activities, work experience, and personal journey so that we can provide a tailored profile evaluation and an honest school assessment. Feel free to book an evaluation session.

Cheers!

@tanisha2000 - Some thoughts and clarifications:

1. The undergrad GPA seems good, which university did you attend (Tier-1, Tier-2, etc.)?

2. The GMAT score is on the lower side for most top MBA programs. Any scope to improve it e.g. did you score higher in mocks? Schools such as IE and ESADE offer the option to take their proprietary exam (e.g. IEGAT in the case of IE), but submitting a strong GMAT/ GRE score will strengthen chances, both for admissions and scholarships.

3. Would like to know more about your work experience - which company/ companies have you worked in, what functions/ domains, any progressions (promotions?) etc.

4. Anything on the extracurriculars front?

Hope this helps a bit. Feel free to reach out for a detailed discussion.

Thanks for sharing your profile @tanisha2000! Your profile looks good, as a marketing/communications candidate with leadership, brand exposure, and a coherent post-MBA goal. Your main variable can be the GRE, not the profile.

Is GRE 316 “enough” for your target schools? Let’s be very honest and school-specific.
1) HEC is test-sensitive, especially for Indian applicants. Typical competitive range: 320–325+ GRE. 316 is borderline. It can be possible, but GMAT/GRE improvement is strongly recommended.

2) ESSEC can be more holistic than HEC. Strong professional progression and leadership matter a lot. It can be considered as a Target–Reach hybrid at 316. Competitive with strong essays + interviews (better odds than HEC).

3) NUS, quant-leaning, test scores matter. Median GRE closer to 320+. It can be a stretch at 316; retake recommended for confidence.

4) Nanyang can be slightly more forgiving than NUS. Marketing/consumer profiles do well. It can be possible but competitive. Better with 320+, but not impossible.

Biggest strengths to lean into: Fast progression (3 promotions in 5 years)> This is a huge positive signal. Brand-name global clients > Uber, Amazon, and Logitech, carry weight internationally. Clear post-MBA story > Marketing / retail growth is consistent with your past. Community leadership (run club, food, culture) > Good for interviews and leadership essays.

A jump to 322+ shall have a meaningful change in outcomes. If you can retake and realistically hit a good score, do it. If not, double down on ESSEC / ESADE / IE / Bocconi—these are not compromises for marketing careers.

Your core narrative can be, “I’ve grown brands and communities from the outside. Now I want to own growth, strategy, and consumer impact from within.” Emphasise: Transition from agency > brand leadership, Scale: campaigns > markets > categories and leadership with clients and teams. Why Europe/Singapore? (retail, luxury, global brands)

Questions to sharpen your application further:
1) Are you aiming for brand-side roles or marketing strategy/consulting post-MBA?
2) Any quantified campaign impact (reach, revenue, growth)?
3) Open to luxury/retail roles in France/Italy?
4) How important is scholarship to you?

We’d love to learn more about your academic background, extracurricular activities, work experience, and personal journey so that we can provide a tailored profile evaluation and an honest school assessment. Feel free to book an evaluation session.

Cheers!

Guttikonda Naga Raviteja – MBA Admit Review Profile

I am a mechanical engineering graduate with six years of professional experience in large-scale infrastructure projects and a strong academic foundation built through continuous learning and career progression.

Timeline Summary – Guttikonda Naga Raviteja

2015 – Completed SSC with CGPA 9.7.

2015–2018 – Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (94.68%), Andhra Pradesh SBTET.

2018–2024 – Worked at Larsen & Toubro Ltd., grew from Diploma Engineer Trainee to Senior Planning & Control Engineer.

2019–2023 – Pursued AMIE (Mechanical Engineering) from The Institution of Engineers (India) alongside full-time work.

2022–2025 – Completed B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering, CGPA 7.79 – First Class) from JNTU Kakinada (Helapuri Institute of Technology & Science).

2024–Present – Upskilling in SQL, and Business Analytics; preparing for GMAT Focus (700+) and CAT 2025 (95+ percentile).

2026–2028 (Planned) – MBA studies and transition toward Business Analytics / Operations Strategy / Digital Transformation leadership roles.

After completing my Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (94.68%) in 2018, I joined Larsen & Toubro Ltd. and worked from 2018 to 2024, progressing from a Diploma Engineer Trainee to a Planning & Control Engineer. My role involved project scheduling, MIS and cost control, procurement coordination, and ISO documentation for multi-state water supply projects.

While working full-time, I pursued AMIE (Mechanical Engineering) from The Institution of Engineers (India), completing it in 2023 to gain deeper theoretical understanding and an accredited engineering qualification. Later, I transitioned to full-time study to complete my B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (First Class, CGPA 7.79) from JNTU Kakinada (Helapuri Institute of Technology & Science), graduating in August 2025.

Driven by a strong analytical mindset and on-ground project management experience, my goal is to pursue an MBA in the 2026–2028 cycle to transition into leadership roles in Finance, Business Analytics, Operations Strategy, or Digital Transformation, where I can blend engineering expertise with data-driven management and strategic decision-making.

Hey
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, you have got a strong, well-structured profile, the kind that shows steady career growth, academic persistence, and real grit. Coming from L&T with 6 years in large-scale infrastructure projects gives you great project management and leadership exposure, which will stand out to schools like INSEAD and ESSEC.

Balancing full-time work with AMIE and then a B.Tech shows solid commitment, though your GPA is decent but not exceptional, so a strong GMAT score will really help your case. Your story of moving from real estate engineering to tech and business analytics makes sense, especially if you can link it to data-driven decision-making or digital transformation from your L&T experience.

You could strengthen your profile by adding more extracurricular or community involvement, AdComs at INSEAD value global mindset and leadership beyond work. Overall, you’re on the right track, with a solid test score and clear post-MBA narrative, you’ll be competitive for INSEAD MIM/MBA and ESSEC.

I’d be happy to offer you a free profile review for your target programs to see where you stand and how to boost your chances, happy to help!

Hi @GNRTEJA,
Your profile reflects impressive perseverance and continuous growth, combining six years at Larsen & Toubro with parallel academic advancement. Rising from a Diploma Engineer Trainee to Senior Planning & Control Engineer on large-scale infrastructure projects shows strong execution, discipline, and project management skills. Pursuit of AMIE and later a B.Tech while working full-time demonstrates grit and academic commitment—qualities MBA programs value. Your 7.8 GPA is decent; GMAT - you should aim for a 685+ score to strengthen your application and stay competitive for top-tier programs. The planned pivot from engineering and project control to business analytics or digital transformation is logical, but you should clearly connect your operational experience to data-driven decision-making in essays. Adding leadership examples, highlighting measurable project outcomes will further enhance impact.

Hey Raviteja,

Mrunal here from Involve Consulting.

At Involve, we have a 5 pronged framework to profile evaluation validated by the B-School experts. Your profile excels in the professional experience part, your promotion, ability to handle large scale projects showcasing your project management and leadership skills - add a cherry on the cake that you did all this while working towards your degree. However, if you’re looking to target elite programs - INSEAD, HEC or ESSEC, a higher GRE/GMAT score would be be recommended while I would also need details on your international experience (if any), other areas within our framework to make your profile stand out.
That being said, we think we can work with you to understand your profile deeper and help you figure out how you can get these colleges through a free Profile Evaluation - we can also recommend other colleges or courses that would fit you too.
If you’re looking for a such an evaluation, please reach out to us on [email protected] or reach out via LinkedIn

Regards,
Mrunal

I work as an in house marketing consultant at one of the largest pharma companies in the world, where I have already received a promotion. I graduated from a tier 1 college with an engineering degree (but low CGPA). I held multiple PoRs in consulting/student orgs on campus with substantial contributions.

Hi
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, your profile has some clear strengths for Kellogg, especially your experience at a global pharma company with an early promotion, which shows strong performance and impact. Coming from a Tier 1 engineering college also helps establish academic rigor, even though your GPA is on the lower side and will be a concern. That makes your upcoming GMAT very important, a strong score can help balance the GPA. Your leadership roles in consulting and student organizations add another positive layer, particularly if you can clearly show outcomes and influence. If you pair a strong GMAT with well-crafted stories around leadership, impact, and a clear consulting-focused post-MBA goal. Share more details on your exact role, measurable business impact, leadership scope, and what type of consulting you’re targeting post-MBA to get a better assessment of your chances.

I’d be happy to offer you a free profile review for your target programs to see where you stand and how to boost your chances, happy to help!
No pressure, no strings - just helpful insights on where you stand and how you can strengthen your chances.

I am from India and I currently work as a management consultant at PwC in Mumbai. My journey so far has been shaped by a strong interest in understanding how businesses function and how financial decisions influence outcomes. This interest led me to pursue Chartered Accountancy, a path that required discipline, patience, and long-term commitment. Clearing all levels of the CA examination in my first attempt was challenging, but it gave me a solid foundation in finance and taught me how to stay consistent under pressure.

While studying and training as a CA, I realized that I did not want my role to be limited to reporting numbers. I wanted to understand the story behind them and be closer to decision-making. This is what attracted me to consulting. At PwC, I work in finance effectiveness and business transformation, where I support clients in improving financial processes, coordinating with stakeholders, and navigating change. Consulting has helped me see how strategy, operations, and finance come together in real business situations.

An important part of my personal growth has been my international exposure. I spent three years studying in Oman, which gave me early experience of living and learning in a multicultural environment. It made me comfortable working with people from different backgrounds and sparked my interest in building a global career. Over time, this interest has turned into a clear goal. After my MBA, I want to work in consulting or finance roles with global firms and build a long-term career outside India or across multiple geographies.

To strengthen my profile and keep my options open, I cleared CFA Level I and am preparing for Level II. I am also exempt from most ACCA papers due to my CA qualification and plan to complete the remaining papers before starting my MBA. Alongside this, I am learning Python and building basic data skills because I believe future business leaders must be comfortable using technology and analytics in decision-making. These steps reflect how I approach my career. I value flexibility and want to be prepared for both consulting and finance leadership roles.

However, I also recognize that professional growth cannot come only from certifications and work experience. I want structured leadership development, exposure to global recruiting markets, and the opportunity to learn from peers with diverse experiences. An MBA will help me develop these areas. It will allow me to move beyond functional roles and prepare me to take on broader responsibilities in the future.

I am planning to apply for an MBA in 2027 because I want to enter the program with enough experience and maturity to make the most of it. I am not looking for a quick transition, but for a meaningful learning experience that will shape the next phase of my life. I want to spend important years of my career abroad, learning, working, and building relationships that last beyond the classroom.

Looking back, my journey has been about building a strong foundation step by step. Looking ahead, an MBA is the next logical step to bring together my background in finance, my experience in consulting, and my aspiration to build a global career.

Hi Tanvi
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, you have a strong early profile for a deferred MBA, especially with your GPA and clear leadership experience. Being the Director of Enactus, leading 150+ people and creating impact for 9,000+ lives, shows real responsibility, initiative, and purpose, this is something that AdComs at top schools value a lot. Your internships at Vogue India, ITC, and a luxury fashion brand add good variety and show exposure to both creative and business roles. Winning 10+ national case competitions with cash prizes also points to solid problem-solving and communication skills.

To predict your chances more clearly, I would like to know a few more things: your college and major, when you plan to take the GMAT/GRE, your long-term career goals, and any work or projects beyond internships. Deferred programs care less about full-time work and more about potential, clarity, and direction, so sharpening your goals and test plan will really help.

I’d be happy to offer you a free profile review for your target programs to see where you stand and how to boost your chances, happy to help!
No pressure, no strings - just helpful insights on where you stand and how you can strengthen your chances.
