Hi! I am just starting my GMAT study and I wanted to see how you all strategically used your diagnostic/practice tests.
A little about where I am:
Took the OG 2015 diagnostic test and scored:
PS: Avg
DS: Above Avg
RC: Avg
CR: Above Avg
SC: Avg
Took the Magoosh Q and V diagnostic and was placed in their study group 4 so am currently doing their 3-month advance study plan. (Side question-any comments/pros/cons to this study plan?)
Question regarding diagnostic test is: Are there other diagnostic tests I should take to identify my weaknesses right off the bat? I feel the OG and the Magoosh since they aren't CAT aren't the best indicators.
Question regarding practice test: Should I mostly just follow the 3-month advance study plan by Magoosh and take practice tests when recommended? What is a good cadence to take practice tests?

First of all, welcome to the GMAT club, and best luck for your preparations. GMAT is not as easy as we assume. GMAT math is logic, and GMAT verbal is a real test of English as a language. So, we recommend you to look for reliable resources.
To assist you better, we would request you to write back with the following questions:
1. What is your target score?
2. When will you attempt to take the GMAT test?
3. How do you rate yourself in Quant and Verbal?
In a generalized way, to crack GMAT, you need a disciplined study plan, command on basic concepts, exposure to agile approaches, reliable resources, updated comprehensive material and mock tests, and an expert with whom you will be connected throughout for your preparations.
You may also see to connect with experts online for your preparation.
As a GMAT instructor, I will first recommend you appear for a free diagnostic test on https://www.mathrevolution.com. Also, check our free trial pack and free-video lesson.
If you have a recent mock test-score available with break up, kindly send it back to me.
Your diagnostic score will clarify what plan you should adopt to beat the GMAT. An initial mock rating will help to understand your concept knowledge of both the sections. Considering your target score as 700, remember various possible combinations to achieve a score of 700 or above: V37/Q50, V39/Q49, V43/Q45.

Diagnostic tests are meant to test how strong on concepts. So, based on the diagnostic test we have to spend time on section/topic wise.
