Dear friends,

I am definitely not trying to lie about anything. But my previous employer was not very cooperative and responsive. So I am wondering other than salary/title, do b schools reach out to employers to verify KPIs in resumes or even stories in essays?

No, they will not try to verify granular details like KPIs. That would require an entire department and an army of admissions profiles to handle that type of detail.

They will have third party verification services reach out to companies to validate your employment and title. I don't believe salary is something that can be shared. That would matter more if you were applying for financial aid.

Stories in your essays are based on the honor system.

On the same lines, do schools also verify extracurriculars or awards? Are we expected to show any proof?

No, they do not. I am obviously not endorsing you lie or bluff, but it's extremely unlikely that a school will ask you to validate your membership in a club, participation in an organization, or receipt of an award.

If in the extremely rare event that you are asked about, you should obviously determine a way to validate your involvement. Even then, they would need to take your word for it. These AdComs are surprisingly adept at sniffing out people who have a flair for exaggeration.
