Sometimes the simplest looking DS questions present the easiest traps to fall into. Do not make assumptions in an effort to take shortcuts. I doubt many people would have a problem with statement (1), but statement (2) looks like a no-brainer. If Charles loses weight, he will weigh less than Dianne, so he must currently weigh more, right? Most certainly not. Consider all three cases:

1) Charles weighs less than Dianne already. E.g., 100 < 120. If Charles lost 20 pounds, he would still weigh less than Dianne.

2) Charles weighs the same as Dianne. E.g., 100 = 100. If Charles lost 20 pounds, he would then weigh less than Dianne.

3) Charles weighs more than Dianne. E.g., 110 > 100. If Charles lost 20 pounds, he would then weigh less than Dianne.

The question takes nothing more than sound reasoning (very little mathematical ability) to navigate. Again, watch those assumptions. On DS questions in particular, you can get into trouble really fast yet feel confident all the while.

Poorly frame question IMO

Option 2 clearly states "If" which shows condition, if Charles loses the weight then he will be less than Dianne. So which means currently he is more.
And as the question asks what is the present weight, option 2 should suffice.
