just wondering... we all like to look in statistical profile of departments (the average/median of gmat scores of student admitted etc...) to assess our chances...
well if you do that, think again...
to really know whats your chances, or how much your gmat score really matters the statistics we need is: what precentage of applicants with a given score were actually admitted. or at least, what was the average/median gmat of the applicants.
for example. we all know that 760 gmat is a very competitive grade. what precentage of 760 gmat scorers who applies to school actually gets admitted?
i guess nobody would give that statistics...

We had some discussion about how to figure out the percentages and yields for certain schools based on different GMAT scores.
I was wondering though, on July 9 you posted that you scored 770 on the GMAT, but then on Nov. 9 you reported that you scored 780 after 1 week of practice. That doesn't seem to make sense. I was actually inspired to look up your score reports because of your post. It's extremely difficult for me to believe that someone with such poor language skills scored in the 99th percentile on the verbal section.
I really don't care if someone has problems with grammar and so forth; but I do have problems with people that play around when reporting scores. What's the deal?

i was just slightly offended by your response...
anyway... i admit that the original 770 was what i was aiming for before taking the test (or if you want ... a wishful thinking).... i put it to get feedback, and i didn't think i will look a lot on this forum, ehich eventually i became quite fond of. it was also a wishful thinking to believe i'll have time to study for gmat (which i hadn't, having to manage a project full time...i could only take a week off work before the test). i then wrote some stuff in the math section, which i hope was helpful and "paid my debt" for being dishonest in my first post... i'm still browsing the forum asking and answering questions (especially math related...)
my english is not very good. but as i stated on one of my posts, the verbal part is not about english. it is about making sense...an i think i can do that (b.t.w its the 98 percentile in verbal not 99)
anyway...
