Please upload the OE. I had a hard time inferring both the questions.
The first one is inferred from the first paragraph where the author is talking about the functions of the dogs in the pre-Victorian era.

from where can we infer the answer of question 2?
I had a tough time too, but if you actually read option C, 'few women were part of dog fancy' and then you refer to the paragraph above, its says 'dog fancy' were people who organised events and shows hence implying they were dog dealers. It's quite indirect and slightly harder inference, they have smartly hidden correct answer.

2. Which of the following is in accordance with the passage?

A. The “best in breed” dogs were more closely associated with the gentlemen-amateurs than with the trader-professionals.
B. The Borzoi was an “immigrant” breed imported from Russia.
C. Very few women were part of the side referred to in the passage as “dog dealers”.
D. The terrier was less expensive to maintain than the Basset hound was.
E. The Skye was a terrier breed that originated outside Britain.

This can be inferred.

A. Wrong, the best in breed dogs were more closely associated with trader-professionals. The gentleman were more closely associated with the "pure bloods."

B. This is not mentioned.

C. "few women were active in the dog fancy until the 1890s" according to the passage, hence the dog dealers were most likely not female. Correct.

D. This is not mentioned nor can it be inferred.

E. This is never mentioned.

Answer: C
