StringArgs
In case of an open marker like AND how can we determine what is the main root (and be taken common) and what should be made parallel. For example:
I want to retire to a place WHERE
I can relax AND
I pay low taxes:
Here is it not right to consider 'I want to retire to a place where' as the root and the list as 'I can relax' and 'I pay low taxes'.
The RIGHT structure in Manhattan Prep is (where as the above is WRONG):I want to retire to a place
WHERE I can relax AND
WHERE I pay low taxesI'm confused as to the way we find the root that'll be common to the parallel elements. The meaning is crystal clear if we repeat the WHERE.
Suppose we write "I want to retire to a place WHERE
I can relax AND
I pay low taxes".
This COULD mean that the writer is giving us these two bits of information:
1. he wants to retire to a place where he can relax
2. he pays low taxes
The potential confusion does not exist in the 'right' version:
I want to retire to a place
WHERE I can relax AND
WHERE I pay low taxesPosted from my mobile device
