Bummer - looks like you see the potential contributors to the score - you are in a good shape - what's the plan going forward?

Edit: Thank you so much for sharing!

Thanks all for your kind responses and tips.
Plan going forward - Have to get the TOEFL over and done with and once i am done with that, (in the next 10 days) I have the following loose framework which i will fine tune

Realistic Target - 680+. I have a decent background (thou from a competitive pool ) but the life experiences i carry, i don't think anyone in the applicant pool will have.

GMAT startegy

- Work on Quant (espc hard bin questions). Will use gmatclub tests this time around.
- Work on RC/CR from LSAT papers
- Maintain a proper error log (last time around it was scribbled all over OG!)
- Take more tests and try to complete each section ahead of time
- Last but not least - TIME everything i do.

Parallel work on essays/apps/recs and everything under the sun to make a complete app package.

Hopefully, will re-take around Mid November so that i can throw my hat in for R2 race.

Snipertrader,

Sorry to hear that you didn't score per your expectation. This is what sometimes scare me a lot when people say that they are confident and comfortable in nailing the GMAT but when the result turns out to be opposite. I still don't understand what causes this type of scenario.

Anyhow, good that you are prepared mentally to take up the GMAT exam. And from my personal experience, I can say that it is one of the biggest achievements. It is NOT an easy decision to retake the exam and get into the GMAT preparation mode.

Only suggesion I have is instead of practicing hard bin questions / LSAT questions, invest in books such as OG 10, OG 11 and OG12 and OG review editions and practice these questions. They are far more than enough for us to prepare ourselves for the GMAT. The only other book that I suggest strongly is MGMAT SC, and if you are bit weak in Quant, then MGMAT Number Properties and Word problems. Other than that I don't think we need too many materials.

Wishing you good luck for your next attempt. My second attempt is fast approaching - only 11 more days to go.....And need to buckle up myself.

Regards,
mrmsmarthi.

I have done OG11 , OG12 - inside and out.

I think for quant, they are good to get you to 44 ish. For verbal, except RC (as i found out) they are pretty good.
I was generally good at RC/CR. And as far as SC goes, i have improved a lot.

I also have gone thru the manhattan SC. One thing i would like to point out in SC is, the tricks of SV agreement/idioms will work on the easier problems but the higher end problems need a lot of logical thinking. That comes with practice.

For quant - i wish i were as good as all the engg/IT folks :( . I will just buckle down and improve my speed and get exposed to a lot good number properties/inequalities problems.

Frankly, 680 -700 is nothing but 49 Q and 32-34 V, which quite achievable for you given your forte in quant.

Cheers!
