Each year Mark works 40 hours per week for 50 weeks. Last year Mark was paid a total of $20,000. If this year his hourly pay rate is raised by $0.50, what is the total amount that Mark will be paid this year?

(A) $30,000
(B) $25,000
(C) $22,500
(D) $21,000
(E) $20,020

Mark works 40 Hours - 1 Week

Therefore for 50 Weeks - 40 * 50 Hours of work completed
= 2000 Hours completed last year by Mark.

Now for 2000 Hours, he got $20,000,
Applying Unitary Method,
=> 2000 Hours --- $20,000
=> 1 Hour --- $10

This year he will be given $0.50 more per hour than previous year,
Hence, this year
1 Hour --- $10.5
So, 2000 Hours --- $ (2000 *10.5)
=> $21,000 for the year

Total work hour last week is 40*50 = 2000 ; Total Compensation last year = 20000

So, Hourly wage last year was 20000/2000 = 10

This, years hourly wage is 10.50 , SO Total amount payable is 10.50*2000 = 21000 , Hence Answer must be (D)

Total number of hours Mark worked for - 50 * 40 = 2000 Hours (40 hours per week and 50 weeks in a year)
Amount payed = $20K
Per Hour Wage = $10/hr
Wage has been increased by $1.5 => $1/2 i.e. 10+1/2 = $21/2

Revised Payment = (21*2000)/2 = $21K

By working 40 hours per week for 50 weeks, Mark put in 2000 hours and made 20,000 for the same. That's 10$ per hour. His hourly wage is increased by 5% and that means his annual wage will also go up by 5%.

20000$ increased by 5% will be 21000 and hence D.
