Hi
rmehta, I'll try to respond but might not be totally understanding what you're trying to say here.
1. What if we someone's accepted and they still do not pick that school for whatever reason?
Do you mean if you apply in Early Decision, which is binding at those 2 schools, and you get in, what happens if you don't take the offer? Then you don't go there-- you changed your mind, and you lose your spot. I wouldn't recommend it, but I think they are highly unlikely to seek you out and try to force you to attend.
2. I'm not sure if it's reality or fiction but I've heard stories about getting blacklisted from ALL the schools if you do not accept the early acceptance from 1 school.
Personally, I haven't heard any stories of blacklisting. I don't recommend applying early decision if you don't intend to go, though, for ethical reasons - it really is designed for folks who are sure about their first choice, not as a hedge.
3. Do we basically sacrifice our scholarship chances or the elbow room to negotiate if we fill up the early admission round? Because upon signing we're basically saying that whatever you offer us we'll take? Is that the case?
I am not sure I understand (fill up?). Are you saying that am I losing the opportunity to get money from the school by applying early? In some cases, I think applying early actually could get you more money because you could be considered for merit scholarships, but yes, negotiating could be hard if you maybe don't have other offers to bring to the table? Unless you get an offer from another school that you applied to just in case CBS/Duke didn't work out?
Hope this helps!
Good luck!
