Hi Experts and Moderators!
Please pardon me if this post is in the wrong category. Couldn't find a better one.
After a 3 week of studies, I gave my first mock test at economist.com and could score a mere 560. Its devastating!
I have attached the detailed report as an excel sheet. I would request GMAT specialists to please help with my mistakes.
Score summary -
RC - A pathetic score of 4 correct on 12 questions
CR - 10 correct on 11 questions
SC - 15 correct on 18 questions
Verbal Score- 29
Problem Solving - 19 correct on 21 questions
Data Sufficiency- 10 correct on 16 questions
Quant Score - 39
I realized I went very fast on the test and finished both sections way before the time. Verbal had almost 12 min left when I hit complete. RC suffered.
I understand that this is as bad as taking a lot of time on each question, but I would appreciate suggestions on what things I should focus on more, in the future.
I am aiming a 700 but have only a month left for the judgement day. Considering my performance, do you feel that I have over estimated my goals?

Hi swanidhi,
First off, a 560 is a solid first CAT score (the average score on the Official GMAT hovers around 540-550 most years). Since Test Day is a rather specific 'event', and your Test Day is in a month, I'd like to ask a couple of questions about how you took this CAT:
1) Did you take the ENTIRE CAT (including the Essay and IR sections)?
2) Did you take it at home?
3) Did you take it at the same time of day as your Official GMAT?
4) Did you ever do ANYTHING during your CAT that you couldn't do on Test Day (pause the CAT, skip sections, take longer breaks, etc.)?
Many Test Takers spend 3 months (or more) on their studies before they hit their 'peak' scores, so it's likely that you just have not put in enough study time yet. Considering your score goal, you would have to improve by 140+ points in just one month, which is not likely to happen. As such, you probably have to consider pushing back your Test Date so that you can continue to study and improve.

Thank your for your response.
1. I did not take the ENTIRE CAT. It was an economist mock test. I plan to give GMAT Prep in a couple of days.
2. Yes, I took it at home.
3. No, i didn't take it at the same time. There was a 9 hour difference.
4. Nope, I did not pause sections.
I may not be able to push my dates due to certain factors, hence would like to maximize my output in this attempt.
