People who make decisions based on emotion and justify those decisions with logic afterwards are poor decision makers.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.

The dilemma between the mind and the heart when it comes to decision-making is not uncommon. Whilst each organ works better in a specific paradigm of situations, relying on sentiments to form a decision can potentially precipitate biased decisions, despite validating it with sound reasoning.
Firstly, it is commonplace for humans to fall into a blinded trap of their emotions, obscuring their vision from viewing a situation holistically. To illustrate further, when the juvenile approach the age of deciding on their future path, following your emotions might seem hasty and irrational. Simply choosing a university that they are drawn towards might cause them to overlook rational details such as the quality of education and the expenses of studying there.
Secondly, involving emotions when judging situations can lead to detrimental effects. At the moment of judgment, one must remain disinterested to provide a fair and impartial solution to a problem. In the common ethical paradox where one is split between a train running over a loved one versus that train running over five strangers, allowing personal interest and sentiments to seep through their decision will lead to an unreasonable, and even life-threatening decision.
In defense of the opposing perspective, completely depriving decisions of emotional touch might form a rather inhumane decision. For example, when encountering a situation of helping a stranger, rationally, one should avoid involvement due to the multiple dangers that a stranger could pose, however, permitting a hostile situation just to protect one's self could be classified as inhumane.
To conclude, despite the importance of considering emotions when coming to a decision, letting sentiments be the foundation upon which a decision relies creates a weak and perforated decision that could easily collapse.
