How is the review of 'GMAT Club Grammar Book - Free' for SC. I had referred
MGMAT for SC, however I am not very comfortable with the book. Any suggestions?
Hi
xuphann,
MGMAT SC book needs to be read one, twice and thrice. It covers everything that GMAC may present to test taker. But this is not ALL. As here are the things you need to do apart from reading and practicing from
MGMAT SC book:
1. Strategy - Do you have any set strategy for each SC question?? Make one.
2. Meaning - We need to understand the value of MEANING in SC to succeed in this section and in every section in fact.
3. Official questions: Practice these questions and learn even from a COMMA from sentence and choices. Do not waste them like doing ton of them in a day. That way you would assume that you have studied alot & practiced a lot but in reality, you need to slow down, do less questions and learn ton from them.
4.
Error log: Well this is not just for SC but for ALL. Rather than just noting down the URLs of questions you got wrong, have columns such as "Mistake" and "Learning".
5. Learn/re-learn/unlearn: Learn a concept/trick/trap, practice questions on the same concept. What you find? Variations and the way a concept is tested with so many folds of complexity. You will sometimes also have to unlearn a concept and re-learn it for specific cases. For example: you may learn that usage of "AND ALSO" is incorrect most of the time, but then you will find an official question that would allow usage of "and also". so you need to learn the nuances/intricacies. This only possible by practicing official questions.
MGMAT questions are also great.
6. Revise: consider ZERO outcome from all the above hard work, if you are not revising what you learnt. Revise regularly!
