Hi shivamnanda2009,

Each Business School has it's own 'algorithm' for evaluating applicants (some Schools even describe the process as 'holisitic', which is a fancy way of saying "we don't have a 'checklist', but we know a great applicant when we see one"). When putting together your applications, you have to do your best to emphasize your strengths. Since you can't do anything about your past marks/grades, you shouldn't worry about that. Instead, put your energy into areas that you CAN improve - your GMAT score and your essays/personal statements.

Do you know which Business Schools interest you?
Have you put together a schedule yet (when you'll take the GMAT, when you'll work on applications and apply, etc.)?

Experts pls help.

Hello, my name is Shivam. I want to ask whether my poor past records will affect my admission in good Bussiness schools? Below I'm mentioning my academic details.

10th Class : 58%
12th Class: 64%

B.Tech(EC): 65.6%

Currently I'm working for Ericson company in Mumabi as a "Assistant Eng." since last 2 years.

I want to know, how much importance do bussiness schools give to past records for an admission? Or it is entirely based on GMAT score.

Academic performance is only one aspect of your application and GMAT is only one aspect of academic performance.
That said, you can set off an average academic record with a stellar GMAT score (for which hard work will be required). Aim for a 750 and they wouldn't worry about your ability to handle the curriculum. They will not give you admission based on your GMAT score, but they wouldn't red flag your acads.
Your essays need to shine through too. Take help from good school specific consultants. Also, prepare well for your interview.
