Fake Posts on beatthematt

I thought I have seen everything, but a recent article was brought up to my attention by one of the users really surprised me: https://poetsandquants.com/2018/03/30/f ... utmm=email

It appears another forum has started faking posts and creating ghost accounts that try to appear as legitimate users. They believe, apparently, that is is acceptable to treat their users that way.... I would like to say that GMAT Club does not mislead its users or post fake questions to spur participation. We are committed to our members and are transparent. I can assure you that your interaction on GMAT Club is authentic and you are never replying to a robot or a pretend account.

P.S. The article mistakenly tries to use our community bumpbot feature designed to leverage and highlight the most useful of our 1.7 million posts. If you are a GMAT Club user, you will know what it is.... oh, yes, they forgot to accuse us about the adbot that posts ads at the end of posts....

just unpleasant and what a poor argument when one is caught cheating.

Update - it appears the site in question has removed the listing of "most active members" and renamed their ghost posters to be "moderators" You can see how it used to look here: https://www.mbawisdom.com/blog-gmat/2018 ... t-the-gmat

Seemed to think - maaaan, what a logic. 
Everyone, here we have a real example of flawed logic!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Beat the GMAT owned by the same parent company that runs College Confidential, which has been accused of the very same unethical practices and abuses?

I suspect that BTG (allegedly) paid content creators to create fake profiles because nearly all the best content creators are on GMAT Club instead.

GMAT Club is the best thing that can happen to an MBA seeker. To be true, fake site mentioned above met its fate.

Love that they have a typo in the announcement.

Meanwhile, as the PQ article suggests, the site was sold by Hobsons about a year ago or maybe even more; they no longer own it. I believe it was somewhat neglected most of the last 4 years until it was sold to the new owners who have revamped it and doing these things. I don't believe CC or Hobsons are involved, just to set things straight.

P.S. Had no idea about CC doing some funny things however.
