Hi,

Posting on this forum to ask for anyone's help on the tension, stress and anxiety I face while studying (yes, studying - not taking the GMAT) for the GMAT. I've been on and off studying for the GMAT for that past four years. Now I would really like to dedicate my time to studying and passing the exam, but I feel tremendous tensions when actually reviewing, practicing questions and (for the most part) getting about 75 - 85% of the questions incorrect. Ive been studying for about 3 weeks now and still feel tremendous anxiety.

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on how to overcome this?

Thank you! :)
More than studying it looks a case of stress management. Stress is normal and every test taker has some but it needs to managed. You have been preparing for 4 years so have you given GMAT yet.
One reason of the stress could be that subconsciously you are not happy to have been that so long - better get done with it. I mean take a fresh official mock and think of it as your new baseline score and believe that you have started afresh - past forgotten.
If that's not the case then refer the link below for stress management context only.

Have you considered GRE? Perhaps you make more mistakes in Quant than in Verbal. GRE is easier in Quant than is GMAT.

Hi spicytuna777,

I’m sorry to hear about your situation with the GMAT. To be honest, I think some of the issues you are facing could be related to HOW you are studying more than anything else. If you are engaging random practice, for example, prior to learning the concepts on which those problems are based, then you may struggle and get discouraged. So, although I do not know how you have been preparing, it’s important that you follow a gradual and linear study plan. In other words, follow a study plan that allows you to learn each GMAT quant and verbal topic individually and then practice each topic until you’ve developed mastery. If you can follow that type of study plan, I think you will start feeling less anxious when you sit down to study. Certainly, if you have any other questions, feel free to reach out. Hello Spicytuna,

We all agree that GMAT is not an easy exam. But would request you not to lose hope and get tensed. We understand from your post that the problem themselves has mixed up, and hence you have no solution for yourself.

You need the following things to quick start your preparation with full confidence:
1. A proper study plan.
2. A reliable source of the comprehensive material to study.
3. Concept building and expert connect.

Build your math basics with our "Math Review" (5-hour lesson). Visit our website https://www.mathrevolution.com. These videos are for reviewing basic math, including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and word problems. You may take an online course where you may ask as many questions as you have or consider private tutoring.

Verbal – Revise your grammar basics by GMAT grammar book or Aristotle grail for sentence correction. For RC and CR, try solving the 700+ level question.

Apart from this, what exactly you need:

1. A detailed study plan (We provide a study guide to all our students based on diagnostic test)
2. A unique, alternative approaches to solve quant questions in a short period, thus saving the time of yours and increase accuracy and finally the score.
3. Up-To-Date questions that meet GMAT exam trends. You don't need to waste your time on outdated questions here and there.
4. An expert to resolve your queries related to Quant sections individually.

Regular tests will reflect the positive change in the score, and hence, your confidence will boost up.

Let us know if you have further questions.
You can reach us at [email protected].
Success is within your reach.
Good luck!
