(1) Of the songs on Felixity's new album, the number of rock songs that are not sad is 5 less than the number of sad songs that are not rock songs.

(2) There are 30 songs on Felixity's new album.

We want to find the value of x.

Statement 1:

After extracting the information from this statement, our table looks like this:

Rock -------0-------y-5-------y-5 
Not Rock----y------- x--- -----25
Total--------y- -----20--------y+20

We can create two equations from this statement:
y + x =25 and y-5+x = 20
Both are basically the same equation so we cannot find the value of variables x and y.
 Insufficient.

Statement 2:

After extracting the information from this statement, our table looks like this:

Not Rock 10 15 25
Total 10 20 30

We got the value of total songs and hence working backward we can find the value of x which is 15 in this case.

This is a data sufficiency question. Options for DS questions are always the same and usually omitted on the site.

B. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient to answer the question asked.

What if there are other songs in albums

Every song is either sad or not sad, and either rock or not rock. There are no “other” songs outside these categories.

So the whole album is completely divided into these four groups: sad rock, sad not rock, not sad rock, and neither sad nor rock. Since we are told Felixity never sings sad rock songs, that one group is zero.
