Congratulations on moving beyong the coveted 700. Retake or not? Depends on what you aspire to take up. IMO it is good enough. And if IR score is the only reason for you to retake it, just check if your B School really looks at it. Many B Schools I know, don't bother about it at all.

Hi SS101,

If you were to retake the GMAT, do you think you could easily replicate your quant and verbal scores? How were you scoring on your practice exams? I ask because if you could get another 720 (or higher) while also raising your IR score, that would be ideal.

I agree that before making any decisions, you should reach out to some admissions consultants here on GMAT Club to get their opinions. If you end up retaking the GMAT, feel free to reach out, and I’d be happy to help.

In my perspective, the IR score is not going to matter in this admission cycle, and possibly not ever. It's been several years since the GMAC added this section to the GMAT and the value of the IR score is still questionable. To my knowledge, no reputable business school has published an IR score range. The GMAT in their barebone format, without IR or AWA, is a fine indicator of a candidate's intellectual capabilities. Keep in mind that when you convert a GRE to an equivalent GMAT score, the IR score isn't factored in. If IR were so important, why would it be so irrelevant? To add to this, business schools rankings' GMAT score determinant is Verbal+Quant only. This shows you how much business schools should care about IR scores.

The bottom line is, don't retake just to improve your IR score. If you're happy with a 720, you're good. :)

Congratulations on your great score. In my opinion, I do not think you should write another exam because of a low IR. However, there are lots of people in this forum that can advise you based on their experiences. Cheers.
