For psychiatrists studying the behavior of those suffering from diaemotiopluralism, there is critical significance in observing the subject both when alone and when interacting with his or her peers. Such observations allow researchers to study not only the normal or “base” state of the affected person, including the effect that being alone has on an individual, but also the effects of diaemotiopluralism on social interactions, position in social order, and ability to participate in constructive workplace relationships. Individuals who suffer from diaemotiopluralism are often susceptible to overstimulation, particularly in situations involving high levels of interpersonal contact.

Moreover, there are varying degrees of diaemotiopluralism, with different social situations affecting individuals in unique ways. It is interesting to observe not only the actual symptoms of the disorder but also the coping mechanisms that the individual develops in an attempt to compensate for, overcome, or manage his or her condition.

In the table below, identify the scenario that is likely to be the most difficult to manage for a person with diaemotiopluralism based on the definition given above, and then identify the scenario that a person suffering from diaemotiopluralism is likely to find least difficult to manage.

The passage focusses on the individuals suffering suffering from diaemotiopluralism, in that it conveys that :-
-- the effects of diaemotiopluralism vary as social interactions, position in social order, and ability to participate in constructive workplace relationships.
-- the normal or “base” state of the affected person wherein there is no effect on the person sufering from diaemotiopluralism

Hence, maximum social interaction / workplace evident amongst the prompts is Scenario 1 - While working in an office...most difficult to manage
minimum effect to warrant a coping mechanism Scenario 6 -- Sleeping.........................least difficult to manage
(Note (as per 3rd line of the passage) :- Being alone ie, riding alone will also affect the normal or “base” state of the affected person..hence, Scenario 2 will be difficult to manage vis-a-vis "Base" state)

Thus , Scenario 1 (While working in an office ) --Most difficult
Scenario 6 (Sleeping) -- Least difficult [/color]

It is given that, individuals who suffer from diaemotiopluralism are often susceptible to overstimulation, particularly in situations involving high levels of interpersonal contact.
From this we can infer that a situation involving high levels of interpersonal contact would be difficult to mange.
In the table below,
identify the scenario that is likely to be the most difficult to manage for a person with diaemotiopluralism based on the definition given above
Working in an office - the individual may have to interact with number of people, hence, most difficult to manage.
Having lunch at home with a spouse - comparatively less difficult
Watching television with a friend - compared to first option, less difficult.

then identify the scenario that a person suffering from diaemotiopluralism is likely to find least difficult to manage.
Riding alone in a car - Though alone, still the individual has to assess the traffic conditions.
Sleeping - Least difficult as no interaction with outside environment is envisaged.
Answer
Most Difficult - Working in Office
Least Difficult - Sleeping

Refer to the line "Individuals who suffer from diaemotiopluralism are often susceptible to overstimulation, particularly in situations involving high levels of interpersonal contact."

Based on the options the highest level of interpersonal contact will be made during working in an office.
This situation the person will find most difficult to manage.

Refer to the line "Such observations allow researchers to study not only the normal or “base” state of the affected person, including the effect that being alone has on an individual. and "Moreover, there are varying degrees of diaemotiopluralism, with different social situations affecting individuals in unique ways."

Based on the option "the sleeping state" is least difficult to manage as it is the base state and does not involve any social situation.

Watching Tv with friends and having dinner with spouse. In both these situations, individual will have company of other individuals and this changes the base state. These both situations are an example of a social situations which individual find difficult to deal with.

Driving alone in a car may lead to interpersonal contact with other riders, traffic and this is also a social situation.

Reason: This scenario involves high levels of interpersonal contact when working with co-workers who he/she might be either familiar or unfamiliar with.

Scenario: Sleeping
Least Difficult
Reason: Lowest interpersonal contact because he/she is alone and unconscious.

Question : IOdentify the scenario that is likely to be the most difficult to manage for a person with diaemotiopluralism based on the definition given above, and then identify the scenario that a person suffering from diaemotiopluralism is likely to find least difficult to manage.

Refer the 5th line of the paragraph :

Individuals who suffer from diaemotiopluralism (say, DP) are often susceptible to overstimulation, particularly in situations involving high levels of interpersonal contact.

Hence, it can be inferred that
Individulas will find it difficult to manage --- situations wherein interpersonal contact is the norm.

Accordingly, Option 1 --> Working in an office (wherein maximum interpersonal contact is carried out).........MOST DIFFICULT TO MANAGE
Option 2 --> Riding alone in a car (limited amount of interpersonal contact, though passive relating to the passengers on road and other drivers)
Option 3 --> Having lunch at home with a spouse (limited amount of interpersonal contact)
Option 1 --> Watching television with a friend (limited amount of interpersonal contact)
Option 6 ---> Sleeping (wherein no interpersonal contact is involved).........LEAST DIFFICULT TO MANAGE

IMO, Option 1 --> Working in an office .........MOST DIFFICULT TO MANAGE
Option 2 --> Sleeping .........LEAST DIFFICULT TO MANAGE

Since the condition makes it difficult to interact with others in a workplace or other social situations, the most difficult scenario would be "working in an office". Doing so requires interacting and coordinating with various people and the stressful environment can cause overstimulation.

The least difficult scenario would be "sleeping" since that is presumably done alone. Other tasks such as having lunch with a spouse or watching television with a friend may still bring about some level of discomfort since these tasks involve social interaction of some kind. Even driving is not a completely solitary activity since it involves navigating on roads with other cars present.

Official Explanation

The correct answers are working in an office as most difficult to manage, and sleeping as least difficult to manage.

We know from the information given in the journal article that those with diaemotiopluralism have a problem with overstimulation from social interactions. Working in an office is the scenario in which there is likely to be the most social interaction to stimulate an individual. When sleeping, stimulation from outside sources would most likely not be an issue.

Answer:
Most Difficult: Working in an office
Least Difficult: Sleeping
