For which of the following values of v is v + 1/v greatest?

A. 0.002
B. 0.005
C. 2
D. 5
E. 200

Is there a better solution to this? Meaning using a graph for v + 1/v? I am wondering if there is one other than looking at the options, what does the graph of v + 1/v look like?

Ok I found the graph for V + 1 / V in the screenshot below. So I think to eliminate answer choices I would only check for anything less than 1 and check A and B. A will be the answer as the curve rises very sharply as you approach v = 0 or approaches infinity when v approaches 0.

Thank you.

Also helpful to know the following:

1 - the minimum value of v+1/v will be 2 when v=1 and it will always be greater than or equal to 2 when v is +ve.

2 - the maximum value of v+1/v will be -2 when v is -ve. The function will return -2 when v=-1.

Enjoy!
