Clearly an SV problem
In the original answer, "it" is referring to White shark and must be followed along with the sentence.

B) they have existed on Earth for millions of years, but because it faces numerous ecological challenges, they are [Wrong, we are not referring to fossils, meaning problem also as fossils do not make any sense]
