Hello Manish,
Hope you're doing well. There are 3 profiles that matter when you're applying to any top university (including LBS):
1.) Professional: You’ll have 2 years of work experience by the time you join the MiM program which is great! However since most of your work experience has been around UI UX or design and there’s no clear finance or operations exposure in any of the roles prior to family business, communicating career clarity can be tricky. Why you took it up, what did you learn, how are you currently applying those learnings - this is an important aspect of the storyline. Furthermore, displaying family business in a b-school application can be great if done in the right manner, as it’s on you how you show the impact made therein. Furthermore, highlighting transferable skills to your short term goal throughout, quantifying the impact, making the work done sound as realistic yet impactful as possible is key!
2.) Academics: I don’t know your CGPA but it is ideal to have an above 7.5 CGPA for most top universities. Tech undergrad can be presented in a strong manner if you select the right projects and modules which are in line with the skills used in your target job post graduating. The GMAT FE 625 is quite low though for the top universities which require an above 645 FE at least. I might suggest applying to universities that give waivers or that have GMAT/GRE as optional in your case as instead of adding value, it’s pulling down your profile. I would also suggest enrolling for online courses in finance, operations and business strategy to just show your willingness and inclination towards this area.
3.) Extracurriculars: I currently don’t have access to your extracurriculars but top schools for MiM do give preference to students who are well-rounded in terms of leadership, community involvement, and entrepreneurial mindset. Thus, I would recommend joining or leading clubs/societies in your college - would be better if you can join clubs that align with your short and long term goals. Universities also strongly prefer candidates who have actively done volunteer work. Thus even if time is short, pick 1–2 focused activities, present them properly in the CV and market them properly in the essays!
Hope this helps! Feel free to reach out to me on +91 99714 44312 for a more detailed evaluation.
